mine will do the same thing, although with my rest I would say the movement is closer to 1/32 of an inch or less. Makes an audible clicking noise when its moved though. I haven't had issues with point of impact shifting, even at further ranges, so it must "reset" when drawing back.
I don't give out information on my areas I hunt specifically but more a region or county basis, for instance if some one wanted to hunt the badlands areas with lots of washouts. I wouldn't give them coordinates, but if they want to know how to best find deer in that terrain, why shouldn't I tell...
I disagree with some of what you said there, I don't mind sharing information on an area. I have done it, and still find success just fine. If it's public its not your spot, its everyone's. I am not saying people should come in and blow up what you're actively doing (if they know you're there)...
Hunting in SD can get fairly cold, been in single digits more than once, so I feel I have some experience with this. I haven't had issues with a head fully "freezing" but have definitely had them where they were harder to turn. I doubt many will fully freeze, but most will gel up to some degree...
Cabela's pinnacle mits are my go to. Had a pair for two years now and they are bombproof. Frequently use them in temperatures from 10 to -30 while ice fishing and commercial snow removal. They are the best I have used.
I do what JWP58 does, just grab a big handful of meat thats already been ground and throw it in the grinder to push whats left through. Anything thats "wrapped" around at the end (after adding the already ground meat) I usually throw away because its pretty much just connective tissue in my...
Not necessarily an equipment failure, but we couldn't hunt after it happened. Crawling in on a good muley and my girlfriend stopped paying attention to where the barrel was pointing, and barely bumped the ground with the muzzle. Last 1/2in of the barrel was plugged full of dirt. Had to drive...
If you are referring to custer as in custer national forest in harding county, you need an access permit that they recently changed to a draw only. There's still some deer off of the national forest, so you could hunt on the walk ins or school and public. Just a heads up! That area north of wall...
Was just in the pioneer the last two weeks. Really cool area. Ended up not harvesting an elk, but had opportunity and saw elk most days. You will be hitting much better weather than what I had! There were a lot of areas that looked to have water several weeks ago that no longer had water, and...
I like rolling up salami, pastrami, or pepperoni with cheese in a tortilla. Extremely packable, wont crush, taste pretty good, and are relatively calorie dense.
A month before the deer above, while hunting In Nebraska, I stalked on a buck that was bedded in some tall grass, I worked along the ridge above him, got within about 20 yards and he stood. The buck did the same thing with being nervous and taking two hops, I shot for 50, and sent the arrow...
I have several, including some failed stalks (which I think you may learn more from).
I have made 7 stalks, 2 of which have ended with deer dead, 2 where I missed, and 3 where I was able to draw but no shot opportunity.
The first stalk I completed with a dead muley at the end of it was about...
I bought surplus army hip belt and shoulder straps off of amazon. Attached them to my stand, and then use large diameter (hard to stretch), bungy cords that hold the sticks to the stand. I carry my bow in, where my harness, and fill pockets with tree strap and a water bottle. If I was sitting...
Kjergaard Sports in Lake Benton. We were surprised to say the least when we saw it. Couldn't pass it up. This was chambered in .243, I don't believe they had a .300 in stock.
You can send me a pm if you want, I can recommend a few locations. If its on the access atlas there is some way to access any property for hunting. For pheasant, I would focus on areas that have wetlands (if in western half of state) because they have the best cover usually.
If you want you can message me, I have some ideas that could maybe work for you
I think the changes will help the population out there, but it sucks to ruin traditions like that. I think a lot of people aren't happy, but hopefully the deer benefit.
