Just a little comparison between the 270 and 6.5 Creedmore
These are Max Loads from Hornady's 10th Edition Reloading Book and Gundata.com's ballistic calculator for the chart
Also threw in a 5 mph cross wind to show the difference in wind drift

Here's a couple of pics from earlier this year with my Montana. Shots were all prone from a bipod. There was a fairly strong cross wind from left to right that I'd estimate was 10-15 mph with some stronger gust. I was trying to verify my drops. I had already zero'd 3.5" high at 100.
400 yards...
Solid discussion there fellas!
Maybe I could get a little more detail out of you guys on your preferences for scopes.
First questions is what the actual benefit could be with using mils? I spoke recently with my brother in law who is an EOD tech in the Marine Corps. It seems as though they...
I’m curious about the experiences of you guys who shoot Hornady bullets and load with their data.
It seems that they are far more conservative on what they list as maximum loads as compared to Barnes or Nosler. Have you guys found that to be the case and been able to work up beyond what they...
Awesome post man! Any chance you could elaborate on your recommendation for the ELD-M over the X?
There's a strong possibility that I could end up with a Tikka but you're making me think even harder about that Kimber. Even more so that you can get it without the Optifade stock now.
Check this...
I totally agree with you that I’d be pushing the limits of that round. I’m also considering the eld-x’s but I don’t have any first hand experience with them. I like the barnes because I know they’re not going to grenade on the shoulder at close range and not penetrate like I’ve had happen with...
What's happening fellas, after having to pass on a nice bull at 650 yards this past season I've decided to change up my load and scope to extend my effective range for next season.
I'm currently pushing Barnes 110 TTSX's out of my Kimber Montana with a Leupold VX3. I originally set the gun up...
That’s pretty awesome man! I’m planning on putting together a rifle this winter to learn to shoot at those ranges. The 338 sounds like a good decision.
Just curious, why do you think this could possibly be your last backcountry hunt?
I put a model 70 in 270 WSM in a bell and carlson stock. It shot great out of it and I felt it tamed the recoil a bit over the wood stock.
It was basically bolt on and shoot it but I do remember having to smooth out the barrel channel a bit with sand paper.
I bought from Redhawk rifles but...
Holy hell, Damn fine job of putting pen to paper, or keys to a screen I guess.
I’m going out to the 700 district next weekend for my first antelope hunt. Not that I needed any help but that story fired me up even more, thanks for sharing.
First thing I'd do is cut straight around the joint of the skull and spinal chord, with as twisted up as his neck was it'd come off easily and with the rack out of the way it make the rest easier. No interest in trying to save the cape for a mount, this is a meat salvaging mission!
Next would...
Yep I feel like I've put down some miles so far this season and while I've cut plenty of tracks I've not heard much at all and haven't got into them.
Hopefully this nice weather window will change our luck.
Nice buck man!
Trying to finish off a wounded animal sucks while in the moment but sense of accomplishment is pretty overwhelming once you've finished the job. Not to mention solo! Nice work!
I got really lucky with this guy yesterday. Hunting with a good friend whose quick thinking gave me a perfect 30 yard quartering towards me shot opportunity. The striker did a fine job and the deer piled up 60 yards from where he was shot.
I can't describe how lucky I feel especially for my...
