You should be able to tell from your tag number. I had tag #7, and there were up to 10 NR tags available in the bonus pass. If your tag number is higher than 10 I think that means you got a tag in the random drawing. -

I'm from Wisconsin, so long drive here too. I've got a few friends in AZ that also have tags (1 bull & 2 cow) and will be sharing a camp with them. Flatline map is ordered and I've been studying OnX. This is going to be great! -

Wyoming elk hunt decision help...
DIY without a doubt. 14 points is way too many to waste on a 5-7 day guided hunt. I'd want a minimum of two weeks, more if you can afford them. You could certainly do worse than take cnelk up on his offer.😉 -

How to find a reputable outfitter and get a tag for that hunt?
Apply in Montana yourself this year and your brother buys another point. Your points will be gone if you draw of course. Then next year your brother buys his 3rd point, you buy one for yourself plus another outfitter point. Applying together as a group you'll have a 2.5 average and a good... -

How to find a reputable outfitter and get a tag for that hunt?
For New Mexico the outfitter will buy the tags and use them for hunters he books. I'm not that familiar with Montana but could you each just buy a point this year without applying and still keep the points you have now? Then you'd have 3 and your brother could buy one this year and another... -

Not necessarily I don't think. It could be that all of the bonus pass tags in my first choice unit were taken by people with more points than I had by the time my name came up. -

My first choice had 7 tags in the bonus pass and my second choice had 10. My portal says I have tag number 7 which tells me nothing that I can figure out. On pins and needles, and sure wish I had opted in for E-tags before the draw. But either way it turns out, I'm stoked.
