Seems like your kit is a bit overkill. I pack 1 havalon with 3 extra blades, 1 pair of gloves, 3 zip ties, half a roll of electric tape, 1 plastic bag, 4 quarter game bags and 1 smaller spare meats bag. I always have a fixed blade belt knife on but not part of my kit. All total I think it weighs...
I guided for 18 years full time hunters in the fall, fly fishing in the summer, and snowmobiles in the winter or I worked in ski shops. Lifestyle was a blast, money was not great. Once I got married and had kids it became extremely tough, being away all over the west for 8 months. Definitely...
I feel like a combination of 3 or more of the choices given could be adequate. A lot of it seems to be money, logistics, and lack of research are probably contributing factors. As well as the fear of undertaking such a trip solo.
So I own lots of rifles and I own a 300 wm and it's a nice rifle with a good stock and it doesn't recoil bad. A decent stock and good form nullifies most recoil and yes I can see bullet impacts. I have also been shooting my whole life and do on average shoot 1000 rounds a year out of at least 15...
Looks like a 4.5 yo to me I agree he's not quite 150 but it's a beautiful deer. If she wouldn't be happy with him then pass him and see if she can find a deer that does. If she liked him and wants to try and take him do that. He looks great.
Not really I'd recommend at least 10x50 or 12x50 for all day glassing and make sure you have a tripod mount. You would be amazed at how much it will reduce your eye fatigue and keep you behind the glass.
Unashamedly yes I have and it turned out fine. Now they are all old enough to go so I'm out a lot more but I don't get to do much hunting just guiding them. Which I'm totally ok with just a different trade off.
I'm going to say 4 or 5 he's not super old but he's started to mature well. I will tell you definitively that he's as old as he's going to get. Nicely done congrats on a good bull.
My family and I relocated to MT from CO about 6 years ago just before the real estate and COVID explosion. I can say I wish we were in the northwest part of the state instead of the central part. It's financially out of reach for us to move again now though maybe my wife and I can retire further...
Montana and Idaho are the closest to you. You've missed Idaho's date to purchase a general tag if you didn't do it this morning. Both are good. CO is going to be the furthest travel for sure but there's a chance at a great deer if you can draw a decent tag out east.
