    Painless load development (mine)

I just use a cheap Lee thrower and supposedly they are one of the better options for extruded powders, but I've never done a statistical analysis to see how good they actually are. I'm not a competition shooter or subject matter expert on shooting in any way, just a hobbyist shooter and...

    Painless load development (mine)

To be honest, I'm actually kind of surprised you're loading with an electronic scale/dispenser. Figured you'd be using a thrower for sure.

    Lapua vs Petersen brass

I've not used ADG but have used Lapua and would put Alpha right up with it.

Significant drop in FPS with suppressor?

@WKR Without seeing exactly how their tests were conducted, it would be impossible for me to state with any degree of conviction as to why they saw what they saw. Small differences in bore diameter or chamber dimensions can certainly affect velocity. Years ago, I was curious about this myself...

How many rounds do you pack in with you on a hunt?

I ran out of ammo once shooting ground squirrels as a kid. Never run out since. I generally carry whatever the gun will hold plus a box of 20 + or -.

    Imr 8208 xbr substitutes?

Is your statement on TAC just based on it being a ball powder or have you tested it? Testing from John Barsness suggests it's actually pretty good. https://www.handloadermagazine.com/rifle-powder-temperature-sensitivity

    The 22 creedmoor thread

First of all, I'm not really a statistics guy, I'm an engineer that knows just enough statistics to get into trouble. Hopefully there is someone who can come along and point out any fallacies in what I say. Normally distributed errors don't stack linearly. Perhaps I've misunderstood what you're...

Trijicon 2.5-15x42mm Credo HX SFP Field Evaluation Q&A

Thanks for these responses. Other than using trekking poles, I'm not far off. Really just a couple seconds slow. From prone I'm more like 13-14 seconds to first shot and the second is right at, or just after 15.

Trijicon 2.5-15x42mm Credo HX SFP Field Evaluation Q&A

I guess I'm just slow. (Apologies for the derail) I ask because one of the eye-opening things for me running the 20-shot drill with the 2, 3, 5, & 7 MOA targets has been speed getting into various positions. If I start standing, rifle attached to my pack with some flavor of carrier 20 seconds is...

Trijicon 2.5-15x42mm Credo HX SFP Field Evaluation Q&A

In the last pic where your shooting off trekking poles are you just holding them together (that's what it looks like to me) or are you using something like quick-stix: https://www.wiserprecision.com/products/quick-stix I ask because I've experimented with shooting off trekking poles a bit...

    Fixed Power Scopes

I have a 10x on a Kimber Montana that has been rebarreled as a 22-250 ai. It's been great for me so far. I like the fixed 6x out as far as I will probably ever shoot big game, but for smaller targets (e.g., ground squirrels) I like the extra magnification. The extra magnification hasn't bit me...

WTS/WTT Red Kettle Wind Shell for sale

A little more info, if it helps someone decide: I'm about 6'2", 205. Chest 42.5 to 43. Waist 35. Fit is good through the chest. In the first picture you can see where it pulls snug across the top of the shoulder. That is where it is a little small for me. I'm not sure where to take the best...

WTS/WTT Red Kettle Wind Shell for sale

I think it would be really good for hunting in brush. I'm generally a large or XL, with XL a bit more often. I'm a bit of a tweener. For jackets it's always shoulders that bump me up. I went through the same thing with a Kelvin active jacket. Chest and torso measurements indicated "large" but I...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

AICS bottom metal would get you there in a Tikka 223 for 88's or 75 ELDm (88's would need a new barrel, too). Not a bad swap if you prefer AICS mags anyway, less good if you prefer factory Tikka. I can't imagine the 88 would be splashy at 223 speeds, but have no experience. Doubt 88's would...

75 ELD about as deep as it can be seated without putting the ogive below the case mouth fwiw.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

75 ELD will stabilize but I think the magazine would have to be modified to fit (I'd have to check again at home to be sure). 73 ELDs work at mag length. My cheap 223 practice bullet of choice is the 75 bthp.
