I have a pair of Leica Trinovid HD 10x42 for sale. I have had these since 2021. They have only been in the field for a one week deer hunt. I have looked them over good and can’t see anything wrong, lenses are clear. They will come with box and all original...
I reload for a savage Ultralite in 280 AI.
160 gr accubond
61.2 gr H4831
3.330 oal
BR2 primer
2810 fps
Very consistent velocity. .6ish 3 shot groups
The 155 terminal ascent factory loads were accurate and closer to 2900 fps.
The Nosler trophy grade 160 accubond were accurate but velocity was...
I have the savage Ultralite in 280ai and a Christensen Ridgeline in 7mm. If I’m being honest, I prefer the feel of the savage. It shoots 160 accubonds tighter than 3/4”. No experience with the kimber.
I have a set of Zeiss Victory HT 8x54 that are incredible in low light. I bought them when the government was giving out money and I was suffering from the feeling richer effect. Shoot me a PM if you think you might be interested.
I don’t have experience with the two models you listed but I...
The factory 155 terminal ascent shot closer to 2900. I considered trying H4350 with the 160 accubond to get the velocity up but the H4831 load was so accurate and consistent that I stuck with it. I plan to tinker with it some more in the coming off season.
I bought a used Winchester model 70 from gunbroker that the previous owner had Shaw rebarrel to 35 Whelen. It shoots 3/4” groups with 225 factory accubonds. I see a couple of paths:
1. Buy something in the 30-06/270 family and rebarrel. Savage with a prefit barrel seems like a short path to...

There is some good info here on velocity in a 20” 7mm-08
I looked in two ballistic apps and the closest thing I could find was the 200 gr trophy bear claw. They advertise it at 2700 fps. I wouldn’t trust it, just trying to give you an idea.
I would agree with measuring the velocity before ordering the dial. If he is trying to shoot minute of elk out to 500, he could probably get away with as little as a 3 shot average if he is worried about burning his rounds. The effort to have an accurate velocity would be well worth the peace...
I shot the 155s out of a 280 ai. No experience on game but they grouped well and the velocity was most consistent of the factory rounds I tested. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them.
Give a look at high west outfitters. I was a spectator on the hunt with a buddy of mine. We had a great experience with a guide named Creed Cade. Hunt was south of Alpine, TX almost to the border.
I hope someone smarter than I chimes in. When you put hot beer on ice you add rock salt to speed up the beer cooling off. In doing so the ice melts faster. And you use salt to dissolve ice on roadways. How could adding salt make ice last longer? I’ll be back, I’m going to do some googling.
