Mine is a 15.75" barrel with the 155 A-Max, so right around 450 yards - Impact velocity of 1819 fps is about as far as I will kill deer or antelope with it.
With barrel lengths of 20" on up the distance can push further out, and I would move to a 168 grain ELD-M/A-Max.
The 308 Win is a viable...
Welcome.
I visit with people on almost a weekly basis who are wanting to shoot rimfire matches and or shoot 22lr at distance. If I can help, please let me know.
Try to get to know some of the better shooters at your club and develop some friendships.
Hopefully, you can find a good mentor...
Thanks!
Matt was trained by Speedy Gonzalez. In the hunting world that may not mean much, but in the comp world that is notable. My Batman lightweight bench pistol is getting a remodel, and a Tuebor action is part of that-Speedy is doing the work to boot. Life is good!
Glenn makes really good stuff. He is a real good guy and a good LR field shooter to boot.
You can say the same about Matt at Tuebor as well. He is just not as well-known yet.
I know folks here locally that kill elk with 243 Winchester's and 6 Creed's.
They pass on difficult shot opportunities, and wait for the broadside or a head shot.
I use the 110 Accubond in my 25 Creed Pachmayr Dominator (14" barrel).
Even with a 14" barrel (Krieger) my muzzle velocity is 2726...
If you are looking for a lightweight action that is very well-made, this is a option.
He does complete rifles as well.
Link is for the action. The LegionTi is the titanium one. Give Matt a shout: [email protected]

Creed family or the 308 family is capable of 400 yards up to elk.
You can surely go bigger if you want.
Are you wanting to go total custom?
Total weight of rifle plus scope?
What is your skill set when shooting from field shooting/hunting position in terms of max distance?
Do you reload?
What weight do you want the rifle, scope and all to weigh?
SJ,
Are your questions answered?

I won't be able to send or receive PM's until sometime early next week or a tad later on.
You are an adult, so do what you want to do.
What may be good for one or several of us on here, does not mean it is the right decision for you.
If you sell stuff, make sure you sell it for what it is worth, so you can buy more ammo for the things you actually use
The Wednesday after Father's Day (WY-SHOT 2022), there were seven of us out trying to shoot a prairie dog past 1K with specialty pistols. Steve Hugel (My longtime hunting buddy from Pueblo) and I spotted for around four hours. There were others who would shoot for awhile, and then turn around...
I can't PM yet, as I am new here.
I am not new to shooting distance though.
Same user name on the longrangehunting forum. I typically post more in the Specialty Handgun Hunting Section. On the Accurate Shooter forum I am SEB-USA, since I am that guy for SEB products. On 24hrcampfire...
