I took last year off from hunting and shooting while finishing up college and am about to get back into it. I used to do the typical load three rounds and shoot for groups. With the current shortage, along with everyone else, I’m struggling to find components. I was finally able to source...
I put an APA micro bastard on my tikka t3x 300wsm and like it. Don’t need a Smith to install and has worked well for me. I would buy it again if I had to.
Thanks y’all. I think I’ll try stacking the firewood around it. Ideally she’d listen when we said no, but we are still working on that. I’m sure sure she would learn after touching a hot stove, but I would rather avoid that if possible. Obviously an inherent risk, but trying to mitigate that...
Hey y’all
My SO 8 person tipi and stove came in a couple weeks ago and we are looking at taking our 2yo on her first camping trip. For those that have done it, do y’all have any safety tips to keep kids from getting too close to the stove?
My thought was some type of foldable fence type...
Been a paramedic for the past 9 years and currently work at a Children’s hospital. Before that I did almost 5 years of 911. Less stress now and working 36 hours a week compared to 80+ to make a living is a big plus.
Just saw these and immediately ordered a set. I’ve been wanting a bipod for my rifle but couldn’t bring myself to spend the money on a lightweight one. These should be awesome if they work well.
Kirkland merino socks are my favorite budget must haves. 6 pair for less than 20 bux. Some of mine are going on their 3rd year and still in good shape.
I went with the Ruger Alaskan in 454 this year to carry in griz country. Recoil isn’t as bad as I expected even with 360gr buffalo bore. If I only have time to get one shot off, I’d want the 454, which was the deciding factor for me.
Get the 454. I recently picked up a Ruger Alaskan. Shooting 45 colt it has minimal recoil and i feel the recoil of the 454 is somewhat overstated. Shooting 360gr Buffalo Bore it’s stout, but it’s not as unpleasant as my Ruger sp101 in 357 magnum shooting 180gr Buffalo Bore.
I know this isnt my thread, but it's a great resource for 300wsm information.
Having said that, I got out today and completed my ladder test. 180gr accubonds, fed 215, H4831 and 1x federal brass. 69.7-70.1 gr of H4831 seems to be promising. Those 3 shots gave me a 3/4 inch group at 200yds...
I ended up having 2lbs of H4831 that I had forgot about. Loaded up 14 rounds today seated to mag length which was ~2.895 with a base to ogive of 2.267. Started charges at 66 grains increasing to 68.5 in half grain increments. Then I loaded 68.7 to 70.1 in 0.2 grain increments. Loads were...
This was a good read. I've got some 180gr accubonds on the way from SPS along with dies to start loading for my Tikka. Still trying to decide what powder to go with but leaning towards 4831sc for the temp stability. I'll have to update with my progress over the next couple weeks.
