    Shotgun Slug Scope Recs

If you are only shooting out to 100 yards don’t over think it. Most any shotgun with a rifled barrel and a little experimenting with a few sabots will work for you. On the very expensive end the Ithaca deer slayer III is a beautiful shooter. On scopes I would go 2-7. If you see a nice buck in...

    Best heated socks?

I agree completely with Theringworm buy the Lenz socks and get the 1800 battery. I am not sure what the cell service will be like on your hunt but it is much easier to run the socks off the phone app. I have used the socks many years for deer stand hunting and steelhead fishing in the winter...

Simms exstream puffy vs Sitka Kelvin lite down

Montbell is geared towards the backpacking type crowd but its clothes are used by hunters also as they recognize it makes quality outdoor clothes at a fair price.

Simms exstream puffy vs Sitka Kelvin lite down

The Sitka and Montbell have the same exterior material and would be more durable than the Katabanic but none of them are made for brush busting.

Simms exstream puffy vs Sitka Kelvin lite down

The Simms Primoloft Silver equates to about 650 down so it is not as warm as the SitkaPrimoloft Gold. Simms makes up for that by just adding more of it. But like I mentioned before the difference in warmth between the two is negligible. The Katabanic Tincup would be warmer, lighter and cheaper...

Simms exstream puffy vs Sitka Kelvin lite down

I don’t have either one but based on the fill the Sitka will be just a touch warmer. If you are willing to consider down I would look at the Montbell Alpine parka and the Katabatic Tincup parka. Both of them would be a step up in warmth at about the price and weight as the Simms and Sitka garments.

Tactacam solar panel and lithium cartridge

The solar panel will stay at around 100% if it gets sufficient sun. So whatever batteries you use as backup are not that important. By the way it has been my experience that in cold weather the lithium cartridge on its own will last about 2/3s as long as Ultimate Lithium batteries.

    Frustrated

You have no idea how hard your spot is being hunted on the days you are not there. If the deer are as nocturnal there as you say my guess is the deer are being pressured hard. Once a buck knows he is being hunted near his bedroom he becomes very difficult to kill and if he is a big one he’s...

Kuiu VS Sitka for Nothern/Midwest Whitetails

For whitetail hunting I think Sitka has more and better clothing options. It is hard to beat Sitka’s Stratus and Fanatic lines.

King of the Mountain wool clothing

I used it standhunting for a number of years. It is dead quiet, wears like iron and will last you forever but it is bulky, not wind proof and heavy, like really heavy when it gets wet.

    Cell trail cam recommendations

The Tactacam is a good camera. For a time I thought I was losing lots of pictures then figured out it was mostly due to my cameras being angled too high. Taking a little extra time to set the camera up properly makes a big difference. Just eye balling it won’t cut it.

Reveal X Gen. 2 is an excellent camera too.

Over 80% of the people in the US live in cities. For the most part I think things valued by city folks are not valued by country folks and vice versa.

    Trail cam tips or tricks

Position your camera so that at its max range which is usually around 90’ the middle of your target animal is midline in the photos. So if say my target animal is a deer when I position my camera at 90‘ I want my mid thigh to be at midline in the photo. Tilting your camera too high or low will...

Drugs - An honest use and need

I had to replace a crown. The temporary was fine. After a day with the permanent I was in excruciating pain. I had to take 2 Tylenol and 3 ibuprofen every 3 hours to deal with the pain. This went on for three days before my dentist finally figured out the problem. I cannot imagine what it is...
