I've got a buddy that films for a well known hunting show and I asked him this awhile ago and he said that normally it's extra batteries, camera gear, etc... plus their personal hunting gear. That's been his personal experience, I'm not saying they're not padding their packs to look tough.
No you don't, I hunt with a 20 yr old pair of 8x30 SLC's that I paid $400 for, never needed a spotting scope and I kill elk most every year. You can get some nice binoculars in the $500 range, especially if you buy used.
I read the thread better and I think it may not be the best for your needs, it would fit fine but the flame goes about 2" and you have to keep the trigger depressed to stay on, it may be tricky with the tight fit you have. If you can fit your fist in it then you would be fine but otherwise maybe...
That’s cool, that’s a great frame for what you’re looking to do, I’d throw 2 elk quarters on it right now and carry them out no problem.
I’m not sure which current packs will work with it but call Kifaru and they’ll help steer you in the right direction, they have the best CS around.
I’ve used this for years, weighs 1.5 oz without the lighter in it. Just slip a bic in it and you’re ready to go

Don't bend it back straight, it's supposed to be bent to follow the curvature of your back, if it's uncomfortable then it's possible the previous owner took them out and put them in backwards. I see those frames now and then on Ebay and they go for $150-$200 . If you don't want the chair let me...
Do it, I brought my daughter into it fairly slow, lots of easy fishing trips and day trips for birds, a couple of September family camping trips with smores and grouse/turkeys. When she was 5 I started taking here on day trip deer hunts, almost got a buck the first trip out and then last year...
I've had my daughter out with me from the time she could walk catching bluegill, trout, shooting grouse and dove, she was with me when I shot a buck last year and a turkey a couple weeks ago.
Opening morning of 2nd rifle elk last year she called in a little bill elk with a hoochie momma, I gave...
For me those would be way to hot, I have a pair of Danner Pronghorns 400g and they are about right for me, I also wear a merino sock liner with a thin pair of Pendleton merino socks and if that isn't enough I'll throw another pair of those Pendletons on. 3rd can be 60's one day and then 0 the...
Yup, that looks like a great time, great memories for sure.
I’ve got a bunch of pictures like that with my daughter, she’s almost 9 now, last year she called in a bull elk and I was a second to slow to get a shot at it, she was there when I shot a buck and last week was next to me when I shot a...
I’ve had one for years, I can get through half a deer before I need to sharpen it, the handle is ok but not great but it’s a handy thing to have around your neck when you need it.
While I've never tracked deer back east I have done it a few times out here when the conditions are right but since I hunt lower elevations and east of the divide they're not often conducive to tracking, I have put a couple elk on the ground by tracking though..
I listen to it mostly because...
Have you listened to the Big Woods Bucks podcast? It deals exclusively with what you are looking to do, even though I'm out west I find it very interesting to listen to.
Yup, great post! My daughter is almost 9 and loves to go hunting with me, we got a hen turkey last friday and she called in a little bull for me last year, I was just a little to slow on the shot.
