Try putting a Kowa 30x WA eyepiece (TE-14WD) and tell me what you think. I got a 664 off ebay for $600 with a 20-60 eyepiece. Got a 30x WA eyepiece for $265 and it is sweet and adds some extra eye relief. I don't believe the 602 is waterproof and not fan of spotters less than 60mm.
I won this 700 XCR a couple of years ago in a raffle. Finally had a reason to shoot it...7mm Rem Mag and it shoots well. Put a Timney trigger in set at 1.75lbs.
To be honest, I never noticed the 2-3" difference ATA hunting from trees or not but do on accuracy and forgiveness. I'd rather cut a limb off the tree.
I was shooting my Rem 700 7mm Rem Mag the other night and found that it LOVES the 168gr VLD hunting round. It seems there has been some discussion on the effectiveness of that bullet (kills). The common theme is it vaporizes the internals whereas some other bullets have better controlled...
So I put one on a rifle and my bullets are wayyyyyy low to where I can't even dial it up enough (bottom of paper).. I thought I put it on right with the thicker end towards rear. Should it be reversed?
The weird thing is I cannot find the exact info from TPS and quite surprised all they offer is snug hand tight. It seems like 25 on the scope clamp is a little tight. I am using 1" rings.
