    Depends on what you're interested in. If international, especially Africa and Europe, I'd chose SCI and DSC in that order. If sheep, I'd probably add Sheep Show to the mix and if more North American focused the Western Hunting Expo in Utah.

    I'll second the fewer connections the better. Connections are where luggage gets lost. I suggest putting an Air Tag in your checked bags so you'll know where they're at.

    Mausers?

    I have two Mauser Type Bs. The first is an 8x57 (.318 bore) with double set triggers from 1904 and the second an 7x57 from 1914. Both are all original and unmolested. The first is actually in Jon Speed’s book on Mausers.

    I just wear comfortable tennis shoes or light hiking boots. I second the recommendation on going without any sort of waterproof lining. And whatever you get, you want something quiet. Some people like these little leather gaiters if they're wearing low cut shoes, but I haven't found them...

    How many have missed animals due to a failed scope?

    Just this past October I missed an ibex in Spain with a Swarovski Z8. It was shooting at least 24” high. This was on a loaner rifle and the scope was set up with a ballistic turret. The best I can tell is that the scope was dialed a lot and completely lost the ability to hold vertical elevation.
