Knowing your way around a canoe and having knowledge of the area, why not? Sounds like fun summer scouting, maybe set a stand or two in out of the way areas and have fun. If it’s a bust, you had fun trying.
It’s a must have for warmth, even if it’s just a closed cell foam pad and not a more expensive insulated air pad. I put a high value on my sleep quality when out because it ties directly to my performance, so I spend accordingly. I’ll gladly pay a modest weight penalty for sleep quality as well.

After all red last year, I have a busy fall. 2nd archery elk, Dec Coues, Archery Ibex, Barbary, and javelina. My 14 yo son drew the same deer and javelina, and my wife and daughter each managed a rifle bull tag in October!!!!
