    Backcountry tents

I'm about to sound like I've sold my soul and have to advertise gear to earn it back, but here goes. I've not been in it through hail, but seek outside's LBO has been really great for me through wind, rain and snow. The floorless works better on hunting trips for me, no need to remove boots...

    Thermal scopes

I wanted to go the NV/thermal route, but the sticker shock kept me from buying... Motion activated flood lights hooked up to a battery with a solar charger works great, and the hogs get used to them really quickly. Works great if you're hunting over a consistent food source, also it's really cheap

    Rifle for coyotes

I have and use an AR, a bolt gun, and a shotgun. A lot of the decision on which one goes into the field with me depends on the terrain. For Panhandle (north Texas plains, flat as can be) - daytime: 6.5x47 Lapua bolt gun all day long. You can see the coyotes for what seems like miles, plenty of...

    Sako Finnlight 2

Could also go to a smith for a Hawkins Precision sporter type brake. The sporter barrels commonly use 1/2X28 when it's expected to be used with a brake and not a suppressor. Just be aware, don't get your barrel crazy hot, or you'll see some slight belling at the muzzle over time (you'd have to...

    Mike Odin - Any reviews?

I'm looking into doing a DIY caribou hunt for 3 total hunters. Found Mike Odin, but his name didn't come up in a search. Does anyone have any feedback on him? Is there somewhere else I should be looking for feedback?

+1 I went in for the same boot. I have flippers for feet, so needed a super wide boot. The kenetreks fit the bill

Deer was previously shot, is meat still good?

If there's no smell, it should be fine. I shot one a couple of years ago that had a broadhead embedded in the shoulder, and had healed over. Meat a few inches from the healed wound tasted fine

    New exo packs??

What would be the advantage of a 3000 pack over the 3500? And if its for dayhunts, whats wrong with their 2000? I'm not trying to start an argument, I just cant think of an advantage....

    Longest kill.

928 on a south Texas whitetail. Dead calm and with a rifle that feels like an old friend. Max distance is a function of the conditions you’re in that day, and how much practice time you’ve invested. With wind (any at all, I’m admittedly not great at calling wind) or less experience (never...
