    24+ Hour Drive Road Snacks?

Surprising that nobody has yet mentioned amphetamines, which the long-haul trucking industry has depended on since WWII.

    Fat shaming guy update!

It seems that the sweetness without the calories changes the way that the body responds to real carbs by hoarding them just in case, and increases cravings for high-calorie foods. Artificial sweeteners may also cause higher blood-sugar spikes when real sugar is consumed, which is rough on the...

    Binge worthy story telling podcasts?

Blowback is amazing. The content is engaging and meticulously-researched, plus they get some amazing interviews and archival material. Well worth a listen in my opinion if you’re looking for some top-notch storytelling.

    What's your EDC knife?

For sure. They tend to be function-first, no-BS knives that have great ergonomics. The factory clips don’t bother me; I don’t even mind the much-hated spoon type, and some of them such as the deep-carry wire clip on my Spydiechef and Lil’ Native (not pictured) are perfect. I rotate between...

    Baby carrier setups

Happy to help. For a new dad, a wrap is the best thing ever. It correlates strongly in research with a calmer, happier child who cries significantly less, and you’ll bond more deeply. This one did the Canadian Rockies to Hawaii to the Canary Islands to Norway in one trip, with no other...

    Baby carrier setups

How big of a baby are we talking about here? I find that a stretch-cotton wrap works best until they get to a year old or so, then there are tons of good frame-pack options for back carry. Check the weight; some of the more-complicated ones can get pretty heavy and are not particularly fun to...

How are people affording these crazy home prices?

And don’t worry, folks — there’s absolutely no chance that it’s just a gargantuan Ponzi scheme!

@bozeman History world suggest an angry armed mob.

How are people affording these crazy home prices?

Exactly. A few generations back, it was normal to pay something like 40K for a first house. Now there’s a generation being forced out of home ownership by prices that have vastly outpaced income levels, and they’re being told that the solution is to simply spend less on avocado toast or...

On the other hand, it would be completely hypocritical of them to condemn others for that.

Best headlamp (waterproof with replaceable batteries)

Had to double-check that; it turns out that they dropped the AAA option on the high-output Swift RL, which is unlike almost all their other lights. I’ll update the post.

And even that perception is because most people are accustomed to the look of overcooked meat in general, especially when it comes to poultry.

    Gun ban

Ha, if police spending actually correlated to violent-crime rates, then the US (which blows a staggering 2% of its GDP on cops) would be among the least-violent countries in the world.

Best headlamp (waterproof with replaceable batteries)

@Rich M It’s not so obvious in the photos, but Fenix’s design and build quality are top-notch in my opinion, especially considering their reasonable pricing. I can’t imagine that you’d be anything less than thrilled with the HM65R; it’s just plain fun to have that much power on tap, and the...

Best headlamp (waterproof with replaceable batteries)

@Tod osier It’s true. 18650s and 21700s are so vastly superior to regular batteries that I personally wouldn’t even consider going back. For example, my HMR65 gives 300 hours of runtime on the low flood setting, which is all I need around camp.
