I don’t care too much about the brand or even whether it’s gas or charcoal as long as it has flat metal and plenty of it.
A separate plate works OK in a pinch, but now that I’ve become used to one, I wouldn’t even consider buying another grill that doesn’t have at least 50% flat iron or steel...
I hate the noise and reduced road feel of driving with studded tires, plus you trade inferior grip in every other situation for only one (clear wet ice) where they’re superior. Plus there’s no warning of impending loss of traction; the lack of feedback before sliding sucks.

The Optika5 range are absolutely awesome scopes for the money in my experience; for me, the only downside for a backpacking rifle would be that it’s slightly on the heavy side.
The features (especially adjustable parallax) and build quality make up for the negligible weight penalty, though.
As others have said, a suppressor instead of a brake would be very helpful.
I’ve also found 3M’s EEP-100 active earplugs to be reasonably comfortable and very effective.
For me, the smaller foam tips are plenty for 12-gauge target shooting, and the larger ones give enough hearing...

I wouldn’t recommend energy drinks, or any sweetened drinks in general.
After the initial sugar rush wears off, they can leave you more tired than you would have been without them, especially when you’re doing something as sedentary as driving.
