Just wanting to hear some of the pros and cons from people who have one or the other, or both frames.
I’m leaning towards the integrated frame, but could also consider building a custom on a breakaway and add an internal load shelf, kind of best of both worlds besides adding weight.

Any photos of how the top lid attaches to the pack? Is the top lid fairly stable or does it have a tendency to flop around when the pack isn’t maxed out? Mainly curious how it attaches to the Unaweep.

Kevin,
How easy is it to grab a nalgene out of the water bottle pocket while the pack is on? I’ve gone through many packs with this “nalgene pocket”, but I damn near have to pop my shoulder out of the socket to actually grab the bottle.
I’m really digging the new packs, color and all. I’ll be...
2300 ci pack for me. I pack pretty minimal though: rain gear, snacks, headlamp, water filter, med kit, kill kit, extra batteries, TP, spotter, tripod. In late season elk or mule deer add gloves and a bit more clothing. I wouldn’t want a pack smaller than this.

Honestly man, dump it all into quality binos and a tripod. 90% of your western glassing is done with binos and a tripod. Any of the brands mentioned above are great suggestions and I’d throw the Maven B series in the mix as well.
This is coming from a guy who owns Vortex Viper HDs. If you’re...
I use a Kowa 553, comes in at 28oz and is the best glass in the compact spotter category. I use mine exactly as you describe how you’d like to use yours. I can tell if the animal I wanna shoot is legal to some great distances (>1 mile), and can do good field judging at closer distances(<1 mile)...
Just go for it. I really enjoy seeing all the newbies carrying 80 pound packs for a 3 day outing, sucking wind up a mild slope. The best part is finding their camp setup in prime elk hunting grounds. As this backcountry hunting thing gets more popular, I’m finding myself closer and closer to the...
So far I have not felt any difference in ride-ability from a regular tube to the mousse bib. The bibs come in different hardnesses. Mine happens to be the equivalent to a 13 PSI tube. They also make a 8 PSI equivalent. No rimlock needed. They are a huge PITA to install and a greasy mess. I paid...
Yeah the XC does have a 6 speed transmission, and first gear is very low, and like you said is great for some real tight stuff. I can start from a standstill in second gear like it’s meant to be hahaha. I’d say first is definitely a granny gear and tops out at about 5 MPH.
The trials tire is...
So just got my small fully enclosed Marsupial pack. The NL’s fit in there perfectly and there’s no hard pulling to get them out. With the eye cups fully extended, the cover has a hard time getting to the magnets, but per their website, you need to stretch it over your fully extended eyecups and...
Thanks for the great replies. I will be using this for truck camping only, so as mentioned above, I’m thinking of doing away with the Go Tent and go with a 10x12. The walls on the 10x12 are 5’ vs Go Tents 2.8’. I really did consider the 12x14, but since I’ll be mostly in it by myself, it’s a lot...
Hey folks,
I’m curious if any of you that run a Go Tent and also have a larger wall tent like a 12x14, what do you use more, and is setup fairly equal as far as time and effort goes?
I hunt solo 80-90% of the time, but I do occasionally have the wife, kid, and two dogs come out. As far as...
I agree with Newtosavage, neither of those binos are a increase in quality over your diamondbacks. I’d save the money and hunt with the Diamondbacks. You’re on the path that many make, which is incrementally upgrading until they finally get to premium or alpha glass, in the long run having spent...
You don’t need a spotter for elk. Buy a nice set of binos and a tripod and head setup. You’ll find the elk if they are there with that setup.

Once you get on skis/Splitboard you’ll never touch snowshoes again. Now that being said, I would take skis over a splitboard, and I’m not talking cross country skis. Cross country skis suck for descents as there are no edges to carve a turn with. What I’m talking about is a “alpine touring”...
Just curious what size bino harness from Marsupial Gear they think fits better, small or medium? On the website they say small, but I hate a tight fitting harness and having to tug the binos out. Just wondering if the small is a super tight fit or if it’s perfect. I’m also planning on keeping my...
Thank you everyone for the great replies and PMs, it’s given me some things to consider and has opened up the conversation at home even more.
Cheers

By being home and around family I mean that I actually get to see my family when I get home from work. As a field biologist I spend 6+ months away from home and most of the time out of service for weeks at a time, trust me, anything is better than that.
