Great advice above, I'll add that when you shoot all those bows, and are ready to buy one, if you buy a flagship model from one of the top 5 or so brands, you will not need to upgrade it.
Can't promise that you wont want to, but you won't need to....
they're a little more expensive, but IW has stainless steel hit inserts 25, 50, 75, 100 grains available....
I personally would (do) use hits/collars over outserts or half-outs...
The weight of the Tommy Hogg is the the only downfall that I see (don't own one, shoot the fast eddy).
I was concerned about the dirt/debris issue with the exposed gears, but in my experience (my bow got super dirty last year due to rain/mud/dust from atv rides etc.) the gears are such that you...
You’re on the right track to figuring it out, but I will add, while all charts will likely point to being under spined, you’ll find with that particular cam, an “under spined” arrow will tune better. On my centergy, I shoot .330 shafts with 175gr up front, 29” @ 71 lbs...
paper tune and go from...
I like your steps.
I take anything on youtube, or from the pro shop, or from Rokslide, with a grain of salt.
I like to tinker, and I like to figure out what works for me...
I just ordered 80lb limbs for my new bow thats in the mail, it has 60lb limbs on it right now. Normally I shoot 70lbs.
I plan on shooting around 580 grains @29" at about 275fps or so...
on my 70lb bow I shoot 508 grains @29" at about 265 fps or so...
I may end up putting the 60 pound limbs...
Judging only from friends and helping them get theirs dialed in, I would have to agree that the Traverse and the Halon 32 seem to be the most forgiving bows mathews has had recently. The no cam bows lacked some performance, but they were very "shootable" as well...
I work in automation/software development, I like the lenovo as well, currently have a T490. Like my macbook pro from 2013 as well, it's still going strong...
Yeah, I'd have to agree with everyone, Bear has that niche carved out nicely. Another good one is the Hoyt powermax, or Torrex now but I havent shot one.
I have no idea on quality, and I personally dont like the feel of PSE, but they just came out with that John Dudley entry level bow the embark...
The bull I killed this year (CO) had all 4 qtrs ripped out of the tree by a bear, got them back, but after trimming I lost about half the meat I'd guess. Loose meat back was untouched, at least...
Killed the bull, quartered, packed all 4 quarters down the mountain to a creek bottom that was...
I have bought and sold a fair amount of gear over the years, less so in the last couple however. This year I was wanting to buy a 2020 bow after the 2021's came out and had settled on a Hoyt RX4 Ultra. I was super nervous about finding a bow on archery talk, since I dont really post there but I...
If you do it correctly, you can apply 3 years in a row on two licenses, if you are putting in for deer and sheep in the summer as well.
If you are only putting in for elk and antelope, you can get it two years per license, IF you draw, you'll obviously have to buy a license to hunt legally.
I...
IMO there are only two hunting sights that should be considered, black gold and spot hogg. I have shot both, but I stick with the spot hogg fast eddie xl now. Built like a tank, will last for ever...
I shoot GAS bowstrings, but ABB (Americas Best Bowstrings), and Catfish Customs receive high marks as well. A lot of guys really like Buckslayer too, I had bad customer service with them though, I could be an outlier though, a lot of guys say they have really good customer service.
