Here is a 7mm RM with a 162 eld-x loaded at tikka mag length (3.340" coal) vs having the bearing surface at the neck-shoulder junction (~3.540").
.280ai junction is .110" further back than 7mm RM so youd want to be around 3.430" with this bullet.
If you're reloading long slippery bullets, you don't really want a long action cartridge in a tikka. No room in the mag.
If you want to change the bolt face do a 7saum or 7wsm
If you don't want to change the bolt face go 284 win.
If you aren't that concerned about COAL do the 280ai
I like the TGK in my 6.5. I really wanted the 7mm 165gr but I haven't seen them anywhere since I started looking. Gave up and purchased some Norma Bondstrike loaded.
OP, there was a bunch of Sierra stuff that came in stock at powder valley the other day. But you if you try and filter by "In...
Tikkas. I bought a 7mm rem on here used and there was just a .30-06 in the classifieds as well...
They are available new occasionally as well. Less now than before... I've bought 2 new.
I came across this ammo a few months ago but it wasn't in stock anywhere.
I ordered a hundred of the 7mm to try in my Tikka. The brass alone is over a dollar a piece and not in stock anywhere either so that makes the price a little more palatable.
Hopefully it shoots well. I'm looking forward...
I have a 20" ctr. I am using N135 and found some decent results with the 75 eld-m:

I find it interesting that the "minimum twist" on the Hornady website, for the 75 eld-m, is blank. However the box I...
If you want help setting it up I'd be willing. I think I've got a decent handle on it now.
The setup is the difficult part. Once you get it set up, it's simple to use - the same as a regular RF. I think it's quite nice to range and immediately have your DOPE, rather than consulting a kestrel or...
The powered unit? I'm using it and am happy enough with it.
Pros:
Fast
Indexes off the shoulder
Consistent
Seems well made
Seems like a good value
Cons:
Hard on your fingers (I wear a glove)
Does not do chamfer/debur (I actually don't mind doing this manually after)
Out of the box, mine had...
I would expect the bigger suppressor/shorter barrel combo to be quieter. Velocity loss from shorter barrel will be as expected; whether the velocity loss matters depends on your desired effective range.
I think 18.5" + 8.25" suppressor is just a bit too much to carry in the forest. Both for overall length and balance. I'm working on a 5.5" suppressor and it feels great on the 18.5" tikka. Not sure how quiet it will be but I think I'll be happy.
 You just showed everybody you don't know what you're talking about.
Thresholds for expansion are in units of velocity, not energy. Saying a 6mm won't expand at 100y... Goooooolly.
May I humbly suggest you just let it go?
