RokslideGrace, thanks for the post. It goes farther into building a fire than I had ever thought!
Thanks everyone for the tips. They will be valuable when I finally get a stove for my shelter.
I'll be there along with KimberSig and another buddy Thursday through Sunday.
If the backpack race was Friday morning I'd be in but cant make it Thursday morning.
Loon, that hunt can be a blast. We have done it a few times and are far from experts but it is a great low stress hunt for me and the family. I wish I had a tag this year but took too long to make up my mind on a left over tag and lost out. Its a great time to go camp in the desert and hang out...

I don't have the weight of the Jantz 45 with me right now but I'm pretty sure it's about 2oz with sheath. Ill try to weigh it when I get back home.

They did bunch up pretty tight after the shots.
Good luck!
Congrats again! Wish I could have been there that day you got him. I'm beginning to think I'm bad luck when it comes to finding sheep!
Great write up too. I just found it.
ETA: You're one lucky SOB!
Thanks everyone! It was a day I'll never forget for many reasons.
We'll know how he tastes one of these days soon. The meat didn't smell gamey so it may be tasty.
On another note it took almost a week for enough soreness to leave my legs to let me walk normally again! I haven't been that sore in...
