Found my answer in the FAQ on Alaska’s COVID page. Here’s a screen shot. This may be a viable option for those who can’t get a COVID test with results quick enough. I may order two of these, just as backup. I personally don’t want to gamble on whether I’ll get quick results when I land in...

Thanks, this was super helpful. I will give my family doc a chance, but I bet he won’t help, because I don’t have any symptoms or anything, and I’ll probably either try a CVS drive thru test, or one of those mail in kits. Or both, to be safe. I’ll update on what I find out. My departure is...

How/where did you get tested? At your family doc? A local pharmacy doing drive thru testing? One of those mail in kits?

If this is the case at Fairbanks, I may not even get a test before I depart from home. If the local tests are taking days, and the test at the airport is one hour? I’ll call and see what I can find out.

    Magnet issues?

Awesome. So might be an issue with GPS, but likely not an issue with a camera. Thanks.

    Magnet issues?

Really? The pouch I’m looking at is their GPS pouch, and it has magnets. You’d think that, if magnets mess with GPS, they wouldn’t do that.

    Magnet issues?

Good morning. I’ve got a decent point and shoot camera, but historically, I haven’t used it a ton. It never seems to be handy, partly because I worry about it getting damaged. For this fall, I’m determined to use it more. I’ve been looking at a pouch to go on my bino harness to keep it...

I believe there are a few DIY type tests that have been given the green light by the FDA, such as this: https://www.everlywell.com/products/covid-19-test/ Anyone know if something like that will suffice?

Ive seen the form, but are you saying they don’t take it hard copy? Is there someplace you submit it online? Headed into Fairbanks in 28 days, if all goes well.

What are your thoughts on the Kung Flu?

Just read this: https://medium.com/analyticaper/covid-19-what-the-data-tells-us-3a08e42ee36f Seems to be one of the most honest looks at the statistics. Cites sources, acknowledges bias in media reporting, etc. Some interesting looks at the data that I hadn’t considered yet. Written by a data...

What are your thoughts on the Kung Flu?

I’d just like to point out that The Atlantic is about as far as you can get from unbiased.

You can state your opinion without the name calling or personal attacks.

Hunt the opener, or hunt the rut?

    For 2023, I believe that's 9-16 September.

Hunt the opener, or hunt the rut?

I'm in the process of booking a moose hunt in Newfoundland. I've researched it, read trip reports, and I still don't have a clear answer. I'll laugh if the poll results are exactly split. FWIW, I have asked the outfitter, and he recommends opening week. But I'm suspicious that this...

    New Tire Recommendations

Another vote for Falken Wildpeak AT3w. Love mine. If I remember correctly they’re 285/55R20, 10 ply tires. I’ve got them on a Sierra 1500, and have handled real well in snow, ice, and Wyoming soup mud. They’ve got about 20K miles, and if I had to guess without measuring, they’ve probably...

    Who's Moose Hunting Alaska 2020?

If you feel up to it, post a report on this. I’ve got a few friends and a few brothers I like to hunt with, but so far, none are willing to commit to a big trip like this, of the type that requires some planning with money a few years out. So I’ve contemplated attempting a trip like this solo...

help for shooting from field positions

Get a copy of The Art of the Rifle by Jeff Cooper. Great resource on field positions and sling usage, among other things. Certainly not the only resource, but a good one. Not a huge book, and lots of pics. Easy to understand.

    Burris Optics

Another vote in favor. I picked up an XTR II 3-15x50 with the SCR Mil reticle for an AR10 build about a year ago. Love it. Great features and fit/finish for the price. Just don’t expect it to be light.

What are your thoughts on the Kung Flu?

I was talking to my pops the other day about this. How it seems like some in positions of authority have figured out how easily they can control aspects of life that I believe they have no business controlling. And I hope it doesn’t become the new norm. We got to that topic by talking about...

    Favorite backcountry cocktail

Atta boy. I’ve been there as well. Last summer I was in training in Montgomery, AL. 90 degrees at 7am after an evening of group class “work” is the recipe. What are you hunting in 2020?
