No experience with that spot. I’ve hunted a nearby unit a few times, and don’t remember seeing anything there, but wasn’t looking.
Camped on BLM in a tent one year. Other year, got one of those small cabins at the KOA in Buffalo. In the unlikely event I hunt there again, I would probably go...
I did an Everlywell and a Picture Genetics test. You can’t send either specimen on weekends or after the last pickup on Friday. Both companies emailed me that results were ready, at which time I logged in and downloaded and printed my results.
With you leaving on a Monday, you might have a...
I’ve got one of those huge Teton canvas bags, flannel type material on the inside, and rated to 0 I believe. Heavy, but super comfortable. Definitely don’t want to try to backpack with it. Just truck camping. No issues with durability so far. I will tell you though, the colder it is, the...
No experience with antigen tests. But if you still have the time, Picture Genetics or Everlywell have given quick enough turn around. When do you arrive at FAI?
Got my neg results from Picture Genetics. Swabbed my schnoz Monday, dropped it in the mail, results came middle of the night Tuesday/Wednesday. Faster than Everlywell, but both were sufficiently fast for me. Flying to Fairbanks in less than 24 hrs.
Oh, and it was $109. Ish. Maybe $119...
Good question. Here’s what was provided with my Everlywell results. Check the portion I highlighted red. Collection date and report date.
I sent my Picture Genetics sample in yesterday. I’ll update here when I get my results, but I bet it will be similar. They use the same lab.
Sig P226 or P229. Or P220 if you want the 10mm.
I’ve got an alloy/steel P226, alloy/steel and all steel P229s, and all steel P220 in 10mm. For carry, I would recommend an alloy/steel gun, though at the range, the weight of the all steel guns really soak up the recoil. Get one with the SRT...
Those are stellar examples of reasonable wiggle room in the rules. And good people. I hope I’m wrong, but those sorts of kindness seem to be getting less and less common. But I guess all we can do is be kind ourselves, and teach our youth. But that’s a different thread.
I hadn’t consider...
Funny, I did pay for expedited shipping to get the kit to me, and then I didn’t receive said expedited shipping. Ordered it 7/21 and received it 7/27.
Swabbed my nose that same day, dropped it in the UPS drop box 7/27. It was delivered 7/28. I had results evening of 7/29. So about 48 hours...
Update for those of you needing a test. I ordered one from Everlywell. Price was $109 I believe. Dropped it in the mail on Monday, had my negative results Wednesday evening.
I depart next Thursday. I’ve got another test lined up from Picture Genetics that I’ll send in next Monday, to...
I’ve ordered tests from Everlywell and Picture Genetics. Both are sample kits sent in the mail, then you send your specimen back overnight. Ordered both, just to be sure I can get results within the necessary timeline. The Alaska COVID site FAQ lists a handful of options for at home testing.
Not familiar with the area, but these other dudes are spot on. Practice shooting further than you think you need to. Don’t need a spotter unless you’re really looking for a book buck. Hardest part is getting in good position to shoot without getting busted.
Good luck and have fun. Let us...
Thanks. That makes sense. I have taken a couple deer and hogs with 55gr Barnes, I believe they were TTSX. They were DRT kind of kills, and lungs were pretty well liquefied. though I didn’t examine wound channels too much and didn’t recover projectiles. Just gutted and brought them to the...
I’m intrigued by this idea. I realize that this thread is mainly about the 77gr TMKs. Do any of you have experience with a heavy-for-caliber copper mono? Do they open reliably, and if so, are they as effective?
