I also have to agree with the above. I love lightweight merino, but the heavyweights are just that...heavy. I have the first lite furnace and it's not at all that warm for its weight. I wouldn't recommend it from my experience.
I'm the same way. My kid will destroy a pair of boots in 6 months. But this is literally a once in a lifetime experience, so I'll splurge a little this time.
So I'm looking for some decent hunting boots and gear for my son. He drew an ibex tag, so he'll be needing some quality boots for the rocks. He wears a size 6 or maybe a 6.5. I'm not really sure what's available in that range without going to a womans boot. Also looking for some higher end...
Worked well for me. I'm really inexperienced on a motorcycle and was terrified most of the time, but everything turned out alright minus a sprained ankle from catching my toe on a rock!
What are you guys that count every ounce using to cut off the skull cap? I used a small hooyman last year that worked well, but always looking for lighter options.
Supposedly, trail boss hasn't been produced in the last year and doesn't look promising for the near future. It occasionally pops up on Gunbroker, but goes stupid high. Unique is another good option.
If I was in your position and had the funds, I'd ditch that scope and get something else. Even if there's a cure, it would always be in the back of my head that there could be a problem that would happen on a once in a lifetime shot.
I've been in the Frank, the Winds, and the Sawtooths. I can tell you without a doubt, that you haven't experienced hell until you try to drag 2-3 bear dogs up a rhododendron choked mountain side in West Virginia. Or even your surveying equipment!
