I’m in NE TN, so probably similar weather to where you are. Most of my hunting is 2500-4500 ‘ elevation, so we get big temperature swings and often a lot of wind. I have the Fanatic vest and think it’s awesome, but it doesn’t get worn a whole lot. It’s a little bulky and warm for most of our...
Update—I just got these Made in USA Woolrich from Ebay. The ad said they were never worn, and they do look new. Even had a tag in the pocket. I’m not a huge fan of camo, but I have to admit I really like the old school look of these. I mainly hunt with a longbow and wood arrows, so I guess...
I’ve had the Big Big merino cargo pants for 3 seasons now. I‘m tall and skinny (6’2” 165lbs) and they are definitely a little boxy on me but I like them for the most part. They would definitely be fine for someone with normal less lanky build. The waist is true to size and I always wear a...
both of my deer last season were shot with 3 blades. An original Woodsman and the other with the 160gr VPA- both on wood shafts. I’ve heard others complain about the Woodsman’s whistling, I never had that problem but I’m shooting longbows that are pretty slow so maybe that’s why. I really...
2 buddies and I were planning a bear hunt in Canada and they both backed out. I wondered the same thing—how is this going to work out being solo? It was great and I’m glad I went. There was another solo guy and 2 other father son groups. The guides dropped us all to different baited areas...
I have lived all over the US, both as a kid (Air Force brat) and as an adult, and I agree with a lot of what has been said about some of the southern culture—fake nice, etc. I have been living in northeast TN for 3 years, near the border of VA/NC, and it’s really different than a lot of the...
I grew up near Detroit in the 80s, back when you could not own a Japanese car unless you wanted your ass kicked. So, 35 yeas later I finally have my first one and I’m impressed . It’s a 2022 TRD OR and really like it as a daily driver and a hunting vehicle. It’s nice to keep everything dry...
I hunt in zone 1 N Cherokee. Stalked within longbow range of a small bear eating acorns last month, but gave him a pass because he still had some growing to do. I have not seen anything since they started running dogs…
If it’s durability you are worried about, I don’t think that would be an issue with a PL because they are built like tanks. I have a 2 piece A&H and a Harrison HSS both with carbon limbs and they are both smooth, great shooting longbows. The sound is a little different than my glass bows, but...
I agree with what bhw2d said about the Daniel Boone Sanctuary. I hunted there last season and didn’t see any more sign there than in other places. Also, there were a lot of campers/hikers. So it’s kind of a toss up whether you want to deal with people or bear dogs in the hunting area.
Another quick fix is to put a couple wraps of tephlon tape on the string. Doesn’t last long but works great in a pinch if you can’t re-serve the string
I use Duco on wood and aluminum. After I built a couple dozen, I read that Duco doesn’t work well on aluminum. Haven’t lost any feathers yet but I guess time will tell
I’m 6’2” 165 with a 31” waist and 34/35” length and have the same problem. Kuiu Attacks longs seem to be about perfect for us tall skinny guys. Also check out Fjallraven Barents Pro pants—they come un hemmed so you can make them any length you want. For warm season pants, I haven’t found...
