I shipped a set of moose antlers to Idaho one time via Alaska Airlines and I didn't put it in any kind of bag or container, I simply cleaned it up and covered up the points and all was good.
What a cool story and hunt! I spend a fair amount of time in that area every fall, it's beautiful country for sure. Heading there again at the end of August and can't wait to get back there again. Congrats on a beautiful ram!!
From what i've read of your posts so far, it doesn't appear that you are an Alaskan resident, which means you cannot hunt brown bear. There's a lot of wisdom in the last paragraph of Larry's last post. I've handled several downed moose by myself and it is no easy task, hauling, skinning...
I like float hunting myself but have only done it a few times. The main reason I like float hunting is because you can get away from the masses and hunt on your own terms. I like at least 8-10 days to hunt and prefer the latter part of the season due to the rut and cooler temps but with that you...
Larry set me and a friend up on a float hunt back in 06 and it was one of the most relaxing hunts i've ever been on. Floated 82 miles in 8 days and took a nice 52" drop tine bull. The man knows his stuff and I plan on using him again in the near future.
I know this is a long shot but i'm looking for a Celsius jacket in the Mountain Mimicry camo pattern in XL. If you've got one that not faded or torn up too bad and want to sell it, let me know.
Yep, it was Luke. Was that 4 brow tine bull a spindly racked bull, if it was one of the guys in our camp took him on opening day I believe. Did you go in for caribou again?
I'd take a hard look at Matt and Sue Enstminger, they are top notch sheep guides and guide in an area known to hold huge rams. You'll have to draw a permit unless they have a non-permit area they hunt.

Sounds like a fun time looking for deer, you should do well in the next few weeks. As for your Swarovskis, I am quite surprised that to hear that they have charged you to repair your binos in the past. I've sent my Habichts in probably 4-5 times to be cleaned and have only paid for shipping. A...
After going 4 years without a moose I finally broke the drought with this 52"er. Shot him at 30 yards with a Marlin XLR 45-70 and 420gr Garrett Hammerheads, it made 2 small holes and no meat was damaged in the process. Buddy also scored with an offhand, 300 yard shot on a forked horn with his...
That ram is so full of character and toughness at the same time and at 10 years old means he didn't let his missing eye affect his survivability, congrats to you on a fine ram!!
Alaska allowed me the reality of being able to hunt sheep without paying the big price tag of a guided sheep hunt. If it weren't for resident sheep tags (and free at that) I doubt I would have ever been able to afford to hunt sheep. I've never hunted out of state and everything I have taken...
