    Sheep Cape Costs

I've only caped 1 ram (my first) and should I score on a ram here in a week or so i'll be capping that one too. It will be nice to have the option to either do a shoulder mount or make a little scratch.

    Wrangell Outfitters

The last couple of winters have been pretty severe here in Alaska as you well know, i've heard stories of hunters finding dead rams while out hunting. I know of one hunter that found the skull and horns of a 40"er somewhere in unit 13 that was a winter kill, not sure if it was killed in an...

Time for a member re-introduction! Where are you from+a fun fact about yourself.

Born in Maine and currently living in Eagle River Alaska. Fun fact: I once stood close enough to a live sow grizzly that I could have patted her on the head and without any kind of weapon in reach.

We are headed in to the Jarvis drainage, we've been running that area for over 20 years and we have lots of experience with that creek, i'm more worried about Ober Creek, it's small but very dangerous when it gets a lot of rain. Have seen a group of about 8-10 hunters stranded on the other side...

The only 30-30 I own is in another state, i'll be using a Winchester M70 in 270 on this trip. I could take my Marlin 1895 XLR in 45-70 but it's range is limited to about 125 yards.

I've got a couple buddies that live near there and one that's working on Greely next week, he's my partner on this hunt. They've been telling me that weathers been hot there with not much rain but I don't worry about rain all that much as I know where the better crossings are, I've never floated...

I know going in light is all the rage these days and I've done it myself but this year I'm doing it old school. I'll be taking my Dana Designs TerraFrame K2, a Night Force TS80, Sirui TS-024SK with the VA-5 fluid head, an assortment of knives (Ingram, Havalon) and my trusty old 10x42 Swarovski...

    Help me catch this rat!

If you know where he's coming out from under your deck, set some snares around it and see what happens, they are cheap and easy to make.

What the closest face-to-face encounters you've had with animals while hunting?

I've had several, had a female grizzly with 2 cubs so close I could have touched her, had a black bear climb up the tree that our stand was in while hunting over a baitsite and could have touched it as well. I've also had several bull moose within spitting distance that were coming into calls...
