I meant that to be humorous, not critical. Apologies if it seemed to be more the latter. People who use phrases like ‘drinking the koolaid’ have realized they cannot use facts to support their opinions.
Any thoughts on why the BNA trigger appears to be performing worse than the stock R700 trigger? Think it might increased pathways for ingress of crap with the custom action and chassis, or maybe something in the design of the trigger?
And thanks again for taking all these guns out to play in...
It’s been a while since I’ve seen that gun I described (2018). I went back and looked at my files on it and realized I was misremembering the signature. The “B” was visible and was very similar to BD Gill’s signature, but there was a new buckhorn rear sight dovetailed in to the right of that...
Thanks for that. Either, I’d misread that in the past or I hadn’t seen it with the full text. It does seem an odd request given the relative rarity of iron-mounted Lancaster guns of this time. That said Henry was originally from Philly before he moved to abolition and that area seems to have had...
I love Hawkens, particularly their earlier guns like the ‘Peterson’ Hawken in the Cody Museum. But there is no evidence that flintlock Hawkens ever existed. All the kit versions people love are just a speculative amalgamation of Hawken and southern mountain rifle characteristics.
Phillip...
I know Jim Kibler is about to start making a good Hawken reproduction kit. I really wish 1820-1840 western fur trade stuff was more popular and more well served by the m/l industry. If you want an accurate repro of a fur trade era long rifle, it’s a full custom proposition. Hawkens are great...
Glad to hear about Jim. Larry is a spectacular guy and very talented. I’ve not talked with him in maybe 4 years though. Last I heard he was doing some volunteer work for his local museum. Still regret not having him build me a gun. At the time he was super into the English pattern guns and I was...
I hear you on the company. I am not interested in boutique $10k R700 clones, paying someone to optimize handloads for a $10k R700 clone, rebranded Leofoto tripods for 3-4x the cost, or overpriced computerized rifle scopes that are all in MOA. That said, their range finding binoculars seem to be...
So I was considering the Leicas without ballistics and the Vortex with ballistics, but the $1000 off sale that Revic ran during Nov-December made them all roughly the same price.
From what I’ve read on the others, the Revic is tops for range finding capabilities, speed and simplicity of the...
I appreciate the feedback fellas. Not looking for something that will handle steep and rocky. I’ve been living down in the desert SW for about 3 decades, but am about to move up north again later this year. Figuring that my Vivo Forest ESC, might need a back up in the winter. Generally expecting...

Anybody use these and willing to share feedback? They look relatively low drop but not zero. Would like to hear more about toe box width, how waterproof they might be, and durability. Thanks.
So I commented about the blue tint in the right barrel above and I wanted to follow up on that. The tint is noticeable in these if you are looking at something inside 20 yards, but not beyond that. I think that may be the basis for a lot of the complaints about the glass on these. When you look...
