I had my Kestrel long before I bought RF binos. The kestrel is invaluable imo. You can’t measure wind speed or atmospheric conditions with a rf bino. If you can afford a rf bino you can afford a kestrel. I’m not sure if there are lower end model kestrels that come with Link.
Yes, once you link the two units the dope for whichever gun profile you have selected on your Kestrel will show up in your binos as you range things. It will auto update on your kestrel as well.
My batteries will last me around 5-6 months in the kestrel and 2-3 months in the binos. I’m either at the range, a match, or hunting on the weekends. I carry a spare battery for each unit at all times.
I like the mil-xt reticle. There are stages in PRS where you cannot dial or some stages are designed in a way where holding over is the most efficient way to tackle the stage.
Shoot PRS or NRL matches. Most hunters are horrible shots that think they are better than they actually are. Everyone’s first match is usually a humbling experience from what I’ve seen.
Depends. Do you blink when a shot goes off? It’s an acquired skill imo to be able to spot shots. Longer range is easier because the shooter has time to recover after the shot goes off.
I don't know if 3000 FPS is achievable with factory 90gr bullets from a .243. Maybe with a 24” barrel. My wife has a 20” 243 and shoot it around the 2800 fps range with 90gr TGK bullets that I load.
Shooting a lightweight rifle will make spotting your own shots under 500 yards pretty difficult...
