x2 on the FlextailGear pump. It will blow up a Kymit Static V Luxe wide in about 20 seconds. You have to firm it up with about 2 breaths and it's good to go.
Thanks. The elastic works good for me. I actually doubled it up to make it a little stiffer and hopefully prolong the life. It has held up well so far and hasn't stretched out.
I know what you mean about deciding to customize the one you have. Some stuff just begs to be cut up and made...
Nice to already have a camper in Idaho vs. having to pull it out there. You might talk through with your buddy the possibility of a spike camp if you needed/wanted to. You don't have to get elaborate but maybe some kind of shelter split between the two of you. Once you find some deer it's...
The subject came up under a different thread about bino harness comfort and bulk so I thought I would post up what I came up with, be it ever so humble.
I tried alot of the systems out there but, being a smaller dude, the scale of some of the rigs was just more than I wanted or needed...
Rooster, I'll grab some pics this evening and post them in the DIY Gear Mod. Not much to it but maybe it will give you some ideas(y)Those Kuiu harnesses are pretty dang nice as is, for me at least, one of the better ones out there.
I've had the Marmot Helium also for about 12 years, still love it and still use it anytime I'm not having to count ounces. But, like Pdzoller said above, you about have to go quilt to get 15deg out of a 1.5-2 lb bag. I got one of the Nunatak ARC quilts a few years back and got Jan to overstuff...
Wildpeak falken At3w's here also. I put them on a GX460 and they are quiet and have a nice ride. Only about 5k miles so far though. Discount tire is my go to because its close.
I made my own bino harness from scratch after trying about every one out there. Most of the ones on the market were just overbuilt for me, not so much the pouch but the harness itself.
I thinned down the straps and went with smaller, very low profile buckles where I had to have them. I did...
Both are quality packs no doubt. I have both and for me the EXO seems the best for hauling and capacity. I’ve got a mix of the EXO bags so it’s easy to dial in the right size for whatever hunt I’m on.
I found one of the Helionox Cot One on sale and have been fairly happy with it. The ones on Amazon that GWT mentions above would have been my choice otherwise. I'm not a big dude but I do wish it was a bit wider. I use the exped megamat 10 and it hangs over but I don't feel the side rails as...
The Thor II is a bit narrower in the toe box than the Lapponia II and, as others have said above, the Thor does not have the ankle support that the Lapponia does. The Thors are my everyday wear boots, and I mean every day, I'm on my 3rd pair. It takes a while to stretch out the toe box to suit...
Yes, the MegaMat 10 on an army cot or even on the Helinox Cot One is a great set up. I sleep better on it than my bed at home. That Cabelas XL would fit it even better.
I would say "No" to 3 big guys with even minimal gear. You could do it in a pinch but there are better options out there.
It does have the snow skirts.
No pole.
