    First Elk - Thank You

My FIL and BIL did that on accident. They can start applying again in 2 years. But my FIL will likely not be able to draw a bull tag as he will be too far behind in points. He was really upset when he screwed that up as that was likely his only shot. My BIL is young enough that he will have a chance

    First Elk - Thank You

I drew in second draw without using points. I chose a late season tag that had a slim chance to draw without using points and got lucky

If I had to choose one state to live in besides SD it would be Wyoming. If it wasn't for my wife's job and where she feels most comfortable living, I would seriously consider moving to Wyoming.

    First Elk - Thank You

I sure hope so. Problem is it will likely be a OIL tag even for SD resident in the Hills. But I will enjoy every minute of it

    First Elk - Thank You

Day 9: I drove around in the morning and checked a small burn that the FS guy said held some elk here and there but still the same results. I was getting bummed by this point and trying to stay mentally strong but I can say I was wearing down. Part of it was I was hunting by driving and that...

Day 6: My brother glassed a big meadow a couple miles away while I overlooked the same burn from the day before. I did not see any cows but I saw the same 7 bulls from the prior day. My brother, while glassing the other meadow, came across 3 raghorns. Unfortunately we did not see any more elk...

    First Elk - Thank You

Day 3: My dad and I set up looking over a couple ravines with slightly different view points in what to me seemed like great elk country. It was a chilly and blustery morning and of course no luck on any elk. My dad unfortunately had to leave that afternoon and I set up in another spot that...
