Okay, this sucks. Last year I lost my job and it cost me my elk hunt. This year I tore my meniscus and have trouble doing light walking for more than a couple hours (that's without a pack). I go to my orthopedic guy for the third time this week. Had the knee drained and had a shot. Shot...
If you are looking for an every-day pack for hunting, the 2200 is far more comfortable in my opinion. But, as others have noted, it isn't as good when you have meat to haul and the zippers are prone to break (but will always be replaced by Badlands for free.... BL has great customer service)...
The title of this thread got me thinking. Has anyone designed a puffy and then a zip-on 1/2 bag that would zip onto the puffy ... thereby eliminating the need for a full-length bag and reducing the amount of ounces you are carrying? Maybe a crazy idea but might work for early season...
Love Exo. This great CS move shows their values and will, long-term, enhance the brand. But this is why I often wait until year 2 before I buy some of this stuff. Personally, I like to have the kinks worked out of the system before ponying up the $$$. That said, if they want me to field test...
I love sewing my own bags. I'll be sewing another one soon, Lord willing. I'm wondering what features you have found that are favorites that you would be sure TO include in any pack build. We are talking a pack bag of about 5500 inches. Also, what features have you found that looked great...
Badlands make awesome day packs (except for the zippers). But hauling loads, no comparison. A good upper-end pack is comfortable in day mode too. I've run Badlands ... and then done Mystery Ranch, Horn Hunter, Exo, and Kifaru. I've stuck with both Exo and Kifaru. While your legs and hips...
I used the x-2 for that very setup and it worked well. Unfortunately, I'm pretty tall and eventually sold my x2 and used a badlands 2200 that fit me better. But the x2 had a better layout for that setup
You'll regret that 9 lbs in a hurry. I promise you that. Lots of better options. Full disclosure, my buddy took an ALPS pack on one of our hunts and, due to no load lifters, he could hardly take the pack out. He told me afterwards that he understood why I encouraged him to get a higher end pack.
Just find an old machine with metal gears. Old Kenmores or Old Singers work great. I've used both. I think my Kenmore had a bit more power but it didn't stitch quite as neatly as the Singer. I've paid between $40 and $100 for my machines.
I called Mystery Ranch and they don't sell extra buckles (poor CS in my opinion). Anyway, I know you can order them in bulk from the maker. But I only need 4. Does anybody know a source where I can buy these?
I have both a Hoyt Carbon Element as my main bow and a Diamond Black Ice as my backup. Both are excellent bows and a pleasure to shoot. You should be able to find either for $400 or less. I like the Hoyt for the carbon riser, shoots about 5% faster, and slightly less hand shock. The Black...
