How important to you is the reticle?

I started out with the duplex, like most folks here, I suspect? Got ‘enamored” with the Kahles & Swarovski TDS (Christmas tree) reticle and hunted open country muleys and elk with it for years. Nowadays I like the mil-dot illuminated types best. So, yes, the reticle is very important to me...

Damn. Not sure how I missed that? Thank you!

    Trijicon reticle confusion

You’re not the only one. I’ve the Credo 3-9x40 with the mil-square reticle. I like it. Enough so that I want to find another Trijicon scope with higher magnification with the same reticle? Not sure they even offer that?

    NL Pure 12’s or 14’s

These comments make me think that Swarovski should consider a 12x52 NL Pure.

Why cant people accept the fact that some people dont need a drop tested scope?

    * with booty being defined as Nightforce scopes, Revic rangefinders, Swarovski binoculars, and Kowa spotting scopes. I should become an MSN journalist, what with my ability with misquotes!😜

Maven vs Vortex vs Zeiss binos

*that* could be interesting? However, and this just my Euro-snobbery coming out-if I’m going to pay 2K$ for a Zeiss optic, I’d prefer it to be made in Germany, though my Japanese made SFL 8x30s are very nice. Again, just a bias on my part. Not logical in any way. 😃

    Tripod recommendations?

Good thread. I don’t’ know much about tripods except that I need a study, yet lightweight one for my 18x56 bino?

Maven vs Vortex vs Zeiss binos

I haven’t had the opportunity to try the 8x40 or 10x40 Zeiss SFL but I do own the SFL 8x30 and I’m extremely impressed? I can’t imagine the 40 mm objective SFL being anything less than superb?

    Vortex Defender CCW Red Dot

Good to know! All my CCW weapons have 3-dot tritium sights? I know next to nothing about the state of the RMR scene? Always more to learn in this game…

    Vortex Defender CCW Red Dot

I have never used an optic on any of my handguns, but I recently acquired a Dan Wesson Specialist in 10mm that is cut for an RMR? Maybe have to give that Vortex a look-see?

    Affordable & Lightweight Riflescope Options

+1 on the Burris Fullfield. I don’t think the FFIIs are easy to find these days, but if you can find a 3-9 I think it would fit your needs? I hear good things about the FF IV also, though i have no personal experience with it?

Vortex Razor UHD 18x56 Review, By Jared Bloomgren

Well, I finally succumbed. Bought the UHD 18x56 for 1170 bucks. My first ‘big-eye’ optic and my first Vortex product. I’ve always been a Zeiss and Swarovski fan-we shall see!

    12x50 binos help

I’d look for a used EL12x50? You might not meet your 1500 dollar price point but I’d bet you could get under 2K at least? Might be worth saving up a bit for?

Which one are you choosing, NL Pure 14x52 or 10x52?

Thanks for the input, gents! I really like the optics of my 10x50 EL but the ergos on the NL are a big improvement IMO? I certainly don’t need a 3500 dollar bino, but i sure WANT an NL. I think in the long run I’d be happiest with the 14x52 NL. I tried an SLC 15x56 side by side with a 12x42...

Which one are you choosing, NL Pure 14x52 or 10x52?

Roweraay, Wonder how the NL 12x42 does in low light compared to the 10x50 EL? That’s my conundrum?

    Zeiss SFL vs Kowa genesis

I’ve not tried a Kowa bino but I’m a happy owner of a Zeiss SFL 8x30. Very impressive and super light.
