Yeah. The purpose is to determine what the maximum cartridge length is in order to fit the chamber, before having to trim. For the low cost, I believe that it's worth knowing. Might save a trim operation here or there.
I think the OP is looking for a chamber length guage, like the one made by Sinclair. Their decription is that they are designed so the handloader can determine the true length of his rifle's chamber when measuring from the bolt face to the end of the chamber's neck.
I just added some more to my cart such as cleaning patches, brushes, ammo boxes, etc. to justify the shipping cost. There's no one else that sells these to my knowledge except Sinclair (Brownells).
Look at AR-Comp for your .223. Very temperature stable, and should produce higher velocity than Varget with similar accuracy. I just bought 8-lb so I know it's available.
It's an Aimpoint Comp-M3 with 2 moa dot, although I can dial it down to a very small (lessor sized) dot.
Thanks for the input. I can see how aiming for the center of a noticeable "cross" or large bulls-eye is much better than the perceived center of white piece of paper.
I just completed load development with .223/5.56 77 SMK and AR-Comp a week ago using my 14.5" AR-15 with a Aimpoint red dot sight. I highly recommend a chronograph to compare to a known load like MK 262 Mod 1 while going up the ladder. After reaching pressure signs, I backed down about 0.6...
Several manufacturers make a rail similar to the one shown below from Evolution Bipod which will allow you to use the existing threaded holes in your stock. They accept sling swivels too, without the large protrusion on the one your showing.
I tried to search the wide-web but couldn't find a definitive answer. Have any states effectively enacted state laws to prohibit gas actuated firearms?
What is the probability that any state law like this will be overturned by US Supreme Court?
I see that several states have house bills...
I cleaned the new un-fired rifle with a chamber brush and the barrel with patches upon receipt. I used a light coat of Hoppe's on the chamber and light amount of CLP on the bore. Everything indicated that they indeed test fired a few rounds, as patches came out with a small amount out fouling.
Yes. I'm using a Hornady comparator for my measurements.
The reloads were with new Starline brass, and all I did was neck size prior to loading. Before I send the gun for repair, I'm going to see if I can bump the shoulder back on a couple pieces of the once fired brass to see if the die will...
I purchased a new Tikka T3x SuperVarmint chambered in 6.5CM in December and have noticed issues with closing the bolt and opening the bolt on factory and reloaded ammo. In fact, it appears to me that the shoulder in the chamber is cut almost .005" too short. I contacted Beretta USA yesterday...
At a minimum, you should have a center speaker, and two front (right and left) speakers. This is easier to incorporate into a large open room and should work pretty well. A complete surround system will include a subwoofer, side speakers and rear speakers. You shouldn't need that level of...
Don't drive faster than the conditions. But I hope to believe that I understand the conditions and the vehicle that I am driving.
As I said, I believe that limited slip is good on the highway, if venturing offroad into unknown upstream conditions, than one should be prepared with front and...
