    "the Meat Co-Op"

At my deer camp we do an equal split of all meat. Setting any fairness aside it prevents any potential squabbles or hard feelings. I try and get my own during archery season so I am already set.

    A Personal Gripe

I think its lack of a correct enough specific term. I may kill a rat or a bug because its a nuisance, someone might kill some species for fun. Killing a deer with the objective of eating it is fundamentally different than killing it just to kill it. Given that many non-hunters think we "just...

Scope recommendations for 22lr squirrel gun?

I would love to put a swfa 6x on mine but they were discontinued, supposedly releasing a V2 sometime next year but who knows with them.

    Scope Recommendation - 400 yards

Of your options I would choose NF most likely. I am planning on retiring my Zeiss after this season after it got bumped off zero for the second time. Im not sure any of the will get you the low light performance you want but the NF will hold zero. I dont have personal experience with any of...

    Non Alcoholic After dinner drink

I dont like to drink either caffeine or sugar in the evening, also not a fan of artificial sweeteners. I enjoy various "hop water" products. Its basically a sparkling water with hops for flavor. Its not a beer like flavor. Just something more interesting than water with no alcohol, caffeine...

    Solo hunting

My wife is used to me doing a few solo back country canoe trips a year, mountain back packing trips etc. I go live at my cabin in WI well out of cell service for 45-60 days most falls by myself, though swing by the house every 10 days or so for a night to get chores done etc. She does...

    Men’s Mental Health Challenge

Good thread - will add that one thing I find helpful is a brutally hard workout first thing in the morning, makes everything else I have to face in the day easier. Voluntary adversity solves a lot of problems.

Anybody ever regretted using Iodine tablets for water purification?

A sawyer mini weighs 2 oz. A half liter hydrapak to put it on weighs 1.6 oz. Whole set up is about half the size of a pack of smokes or a range finder. Water will taste much better. I like bringing two of the packs, a dirty and a clean, but 1 and drinking directly from the filer also works fine...

    .308 or 6.5 creedmoor

I debated this for a month recently, same gun Tikka T3x superlite and 308 vs 6.5. I also happen to have roughly 5k rounds of mil surp 308 which while not a hunting ammo, as practice ammo factored into my thinking. After nearly buying the 308 several times I went with the 6.5. My next rifle will...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I just got my new 223 and was hoping to shoot eldx but had not realized they dont load it for 223. Given TMKs are unobtainium in factory loads is the 75g eldm a solid choice.

    Forloh BTM Pant review forthcoming

I grouse hunt pretty much every day from start of October until WI deer rifle season in late Nov.
