This is good news IMO. I mailed the Huron today. If it passes Forms test then it will show me my system allows that much of an error. That pillar 🛏bedding alone at 65” lbs. is not enough to test a scope accurately and it may show one drop could cause a POI shift while hunting. Now granted...
I just completed a drop test on the Hurons and posted it in the riflescope evaluation. I am sending it to Form next week for formal testing.
Kyguy is correct the NF is a few grades above the Huron in most people opinions
Buy what you think you need on Amazon and have them deliver it to your outfitter. If you can get it home through TSA , great. If not ship it
To yourself before you leave or hand it to your guide as part of the tip.
*******Update- 2nd drop test on the Huron**********
Since the original test did not include locktited base ring bolts, I pulled the scope, cleaned the bolts and applied Vibratight. Let it stand per instructions for 30 mins then reattached scope at 65"lbs.
Cone stayed the same.
Had a buddy...
S&B Klassik 3x12x42 illuminated with a BDC style reticle. Have one and believe it is the easiest scope I have to get behind. It’s simple, functions well and you can obtain a custom elevation if needed from S&B for around $250 when you order it. Based on that chambering I doubt you would...
I ordered one. Laid it on the bed and tried to take a nap. Not happening. I just can't do the mummy. If anyone is interested I'll sell it to you for my cost + shipping. I believe they are now $77 on amazon. PM me if interested as I'll post it in classified later today.
The 2nd & 3rd drops are very interesting to me. You experienced the exact same issue I did. This is also the reason I stumbled into RS a few years ago. Google "scope zero retention test" and it leads you here. I would sight the rifle in, felt good, two 5 shot groups that are sub MOA, drove...
Ditto on the gas block and avoid the Hurwux. I have one and still have to have ear pro hair to use it. I am not impressed with their sound suppression. They are just barely above a sound mitigation device.
I installed a superlative arms adjustable gas block and was able to easily tune my...
Does it appear the turret housing is larger on the 1.2? I am also curious if rifle weight plays a role. I assume it has some influence. I’ll weigh my set up later this week.
This also tells me I likely only pulled one of the two shots not in the cone during my test. So on that note I...
Have one and prefer it over my old Lecia CRF1000. Better laser. Size is an issue as I am used to carrying it in a short pocket. I would buy it again just for the functionality over the CRF
I’ll retest in a few weeks. If it holds on the single 36’s I’ll send it in. So far the only sub $750 scopes that have “Passed” and are attainable are the Credo 3x9 and maybe a Burris FF 3x9 (older model and unknown availability since the manufacturer may have changed). I believe we need to...
Received approvals today.
Purchased on line Thursday night
Updated paperwork Friday afternoon
Received approval today. Less than 5 days total time and that included a weekend.
The test rifle is not bonded to the stock or bedded. That is an area that will be corrected this fall. My goal is to get as close to “factory” with off the shelf components as I can. I am very curious how a factory stocked Tikka would fare in the drop eval as mine is not pillar bedded or...
Replying from the phone so I’ll figure out how to quote specifically later.
This one was tested with the Bergara SP which has previously tested the Maven RS1 and S&B fixed 6. I had the Trij mounted in the Ruger, shot 3 groups of 10’playing with 22WMR ammo to see what it liked. I then moved...
