Hornady Bore Driver field report ( Not mine!! ) I have always said that the water jug tests we see, are far from what real world performance really is.
"Punched my Colorado Muzzy tag yesterday evening. 1.5 year old cow. 161 yards, broadside.
I didn’t wait for “Colorado approval”. It would be...
Went very well for us in Colorado! 2 doe tags and a buck tag were filled. We had 2 cow elk tags, but due to the heat, we were unable to find them and decided to pull out 2 days early and get all the deer processed. We did all the processing ourselves and ended up with 163lbs of yumminess!
All 3...
brass trigger guard and butt plate? Usually when its not marked with a model name, its a kit gun.
80gr 2fg, .015 / .018" patch with a .530" round ball.
Not a huge fan of tc barrels due to their horribly shallow rifling, but thats a great load to try out.
I bought some Bridgers Best patches the other week and wanted to give them a try in my Traditions St.Louis Hawken .54cal. I was shooting from 60 yards and used 80gr gearhart-owen 2fg, .015" patch lubed with bear paws patch lube and home cast .530" round balls. 5 shots total and i am pretty...
If you are shooting a traditional muzzleloader, keep it simple and traditional. Find a 54cal and shoot patched round balls. I know everyone out there makes it seem like you have to shoot plastic guns and copper, but its far from the truth.
You need to check your state laws ( let us know where...
Just because you unload at the end of the day, doesnt mean it'll go boom the next day. I refuse to unload and clean my gun while out hunting. If I shoot it at game and miss, then obviously I will hunt for a day or 2 before I am forced to clean the gun.
I've gone almost a whole week before...
Arrived safely! A Doc White, in the white, kit gun. I've already started by inletting the barrel channel larger and then proceeded to bed the tang and barrel for a nice weather resistant sealed fit. Any tiny little wood splinters, I shaved or sanded away before bedding it. By the time its fully...
I tried 3fg powder today. Results from 80 and 90gr charges. Ignition was dang near instant! I filed down the front sight about .005" today and hope that will put it at least dead on at 50 yards. I still need to try 60 and 70gr charges, but will need to run more balls in the shop.
Tomorrow I'll throw it across my shooting bags, but today I just HAD TO! Its hitting low, but I want to experiment with different patches and powder charges before messing with it. So far, I love it. Fast lock, ignition.
