Well, we had a hell of a day in the Colorado big game draw!
Here's how it goes.
Dad - Cow elk tag
Brother - Doe tag & cow elk tag
Me - Buck tag & Bull tag
Very very excited!
We all will be using traditional muzzleloaders, shooting real black powder and patched round balls from our 54s...
just found it online. Just one of those lucky strikes lol. Its a damn nice rifle. Taking it to rendezvous next week and hope to play with it while im out there.
Bought this about a month ago and love it. Nice handling rifle and a sweet shooter the first time out to the range.
Ardesa Mountain Rifle .54 1:66 twist. Walnut stock. Still getting used to the bluing, but I can live with it for now.
I did update the sights to a more traditional set up.
Sure did!! The gamo scope crapped out after 20 shots. Wouldn't track. Put a 4x32 simmons on and at 25 yards, shots will touch.
Eurasian dove victim #2. These suckers are huge and offer a ton of breast meat.
The other week, I took my girlfriends sister in laws, step dad out shooting. He never shot a muzzleloader, pretty new to hunting and I decided to take him out and introduce him to the flintlock.
This was his second shot and he kept getting better and better the more we shot.

I'll be loading it with gearhart...
15lbs seating pressure if what they used to recommend. When I shot them, I seated them with 2 thumbs over the ramrod. They dont need to be extremely tight, just enough to hold them in place.
I picked this up many many months ago and did a little more work on it yesterday. This is an ultra rare factory walnut stock from the early 80's during their first few years. CVA pretty much used beechwood, BUT, those early years, they had a limited supply of walnut , and I got super lucky and...
not directly, but it was pretty obvious. Investarm renamed the great plains rifle as the gemmer hawken to make up for the loss. Lyman did state that they washed their hands in the firearms sector. Too much risk for them once all those barrels came out defective. I have worked with one investarm...
