Got the WM Terralite 25 degree bag this year and wasn't disappointed. Consider how you like to sleep when looking at bag design and sizes.
You will likely find that one 0 degree bag is too hot and uncomfortable for most of the early season hunts.
I’ve enjoyed my Sitka stormfront GTX gloves for riding atv riding. I wear the outdoor research Merino liners under the the fleece and throw those on top. Plenty of room to stuff and hand warmer in there too, atleast with my small hands.
I’ve been collecting a lot of numbers on several calibers before I decide what to really do. 18” seems to be a good spot for the 6.5 PRC, seems like most guys are still getting good velocity with 140s and up at that length.
I might end up going with another 7 PRC or 300 WSM to satisfy my need...
I've been shooting them all summer without issue. I revamped my whole arrow setup this summer, switching from FMJs w/ Blazer vanes to the Axis shafts with the IW vanes ordered through them. I'm still new to this DIY archery world, so I've never shot most of the other vanes everyone is talking...
My brother and I had a January tag last year. I would 100% recommend tent camping from your truck. We did ours in a Davis Wall Tent with the stove obviously. It can be brutally cold with wind and snow that time of year. We saw temps in the high teens with a few inches of snow the first day. It...
I would say in terms of warmth they are nearly identical to the Apex. Maybe just slightly warmer because of the nylon face. No wind stopper or DWR as far as I can tell. If you want a good in between pant look at the Kutanas or Attacks. The Kutanas are my favorite, they hold up to a lot and are...
I got both Intercept pieces this afternoon and tried them on. Went outside and shot a few arrows with them, and did some stuff around the house.
Intercept Pants: The first thing I noticed compared to the Apex pants is that the Intercepts are louder. Not a ton, I would put them between the Apex...
This is more reflective of the individual piece and not the hip vents. The new knee pads should be a welcomed change, the current ones suck. The apex pants pick pretty bad in my experience compared to other pants, so hopefully these are better. Can’t get any more simple than a zipper for a vent.
I think this is the second new pant in a row that has been given hip vents. My guess is that whenever they update/replacing existing pants, they will be added or else they’re getting outclassed by the competition.
They’re so bad I usually opt to take the Kutanas despite them being hotter. Of the pants I’ve worn, I’d rank them: Apex, Attack, Kutana/Mountain, Ascents, Talus.
I ordered the Intercept set and I’ll post here once I get them, but I’m sure everyone else will too. I’m in a different situation...
I agree with you. Your skills in the field are what really matter. I’m just stating what I’ve observed out of the pants I’ve worn. None of the other pants are “loud”, with the exception of whatever version of the ascents I have.
Looking forward to getting my hands on these for September. I already have the Apex, curious see how much the new fabric and hip vents change the pants.
The best system usually lies somewhere in between all of the brands, but Sitka has been my favorite so far. Gore Infinium is my favorite material on the market so far. They cover a really wide variety of pursuits. They also offer the best Pro Program if you’re someone it applies to.
The...
One thing to keep in mind is how long you want the barrel to be and the muzzle device you might run. I recently decided I wanted shorter, lighter rifles to run suppressors on.
My Proof 6.5CM has a 24” barrel and I have a Bergara B-14 Wilderness in 6.5PRC. I plan on rebarreling both to short...
