I was there for muzzleloader elk this year. Be ready to hike. My boots have over 100 miles on them and I still struggled with blisters. However, they may be lower by Oct/Nov time frame.
I do a combo of different resolutions. One low res of the entire area, but they focus in on my Plan A's, B's, etc. with the high res. At the end of the day, I get as many within the unit as I can. I also will delete offline maps from previous years so i don't run into memory space issues.
Thanks for the information. I plan to bring a off road kit with tire patch, goo, air compressor, etc. I also don't plan to leave anything of value at the camp other than sleeping bag/tent type stuff.
My son and I plan to be in SE NM for some hunting in Nov. I know we can't camp on State Lands, but does anyone have any experience camping on BLM down there? Anyone ever run into a problems with someone messing with your camp? I'm sure its always possible. I'm slightly worried about driving away...

This unit is by no means 'top tier'. I added the unit number in hopes that I get a PM from someone who's been there before. Point creep doesn't happen bc people add unit #s on discussion boards. It happens because of groups like Meateater, JRE, Hushin, etc.
I think as long as its not a limited entry unit, you'd be fine. Just be considerate if you end up crossing paths with some hunters. Plus, if they're struggling or don't know how to call well, then maybe you could help them!
I work in the O&G industry and you won't see $7/gal unless you live in CA. I would suspect a worst case scenario of $5 and change. It'll most likely be less than $5.
