    New Mexico Rut

When is the Antelope Rut in NM typically? I killed my antelope in late Sept in WY and the rut was at full bore. I wasn't sure if latitude played into the timing like it does with whitetail deer. Thanks in advance!

Muzzleloader vs. First Rifle Elk Hunting

Muzzy season is usually earlier, which means you are typically not dealing with snow and bitter cold. In some cases, you can hunt muzzy during the rut. I think the biggest positive is the fact that in most cases you'll get better draw odds from a muzzy hunt compared to a rifle hunt. Negatives...

    Early November Montana Weather

Two years ago we hit the trailhead (SW of Boazman) with beautiful weather. It was high 60's and sunny. We hiked in and setup a basecamp. As I zipped up my tent that night I could hear some moisture coming down. The next morning it began to rain pretty heavily and turned into snow. We ended up...

    Wyoming elk points

I heard that too. I asked the guy I went with if they got hit hard by the winter. He said they faired a lot better than southern WY. He is in more central WY.

    Pants- Sitka/Kuiu

I've been running the Kuiu Pro Pants for the past 4 years and I love em. They come with knee pads which really come in handy more than you realize when you're hunting. Especially if you're camping on the ground. I also own some Attack Pants that I wear as daily casual wear. They run a little...

Affordable cooler for a boned out elk?

I have 50% ownership in a RTIC 145qt. We usually bring that plus a small 65qt or something. That would be enough for one elk.

How many inReach Units are needed for a group of hunters?

In our group, each person has an InReach, but it could be done with less. Two years ago there were 4 in our group and we hunted in pairs. It allowed us to communicate back and forth between pairs. I received a text from my buddy that a group of MD were headed our way. I was able to harvest one...

Which do you think is hunted harder OTC archery or Rifle in CO

Archery is traditionally harder. Just from a success rate stand point. Historically, you're looking a 10-15% success rate for Archery and Rifle is over 30%. Now, you can find units that certainly defy those odds.
