I have two full size ones set up. One is in the basement, I used 2 2x2s on the short edge to "sandwich" it, then screwed in eye hooks and suspended it using chain from my floor truss so I can shoot indoors. The second one is outside. I used three pieces of "top rail" for fencing, galvanized...
I was in Idaho this year for archery elk and a some of areas near us were closed due to fire. I decided due to that bit of info that I would also research fires that would close an area keeping people out, that would have an impact on a relatively short season if you couldn't access the unit and...
Lol,, well I can't say I have never flinched but at 25 yards I can normally keep them close ! I did shoot my 45 70 after that and shot a decent group, I put a limbsaver slip on recoil pad on that beast and it tamed it quite a bit.
I appreciate the info ! I was wondering it it was a bad lot of slugs. I have never had an issue with Hornady's but maybe they had some quality control issues. I will pick up some different ones to try and hopefully find something else that fly's well. A friend told me he has had some success...
Anyone had an issue with a 20 gauge Mossberg ported, rifled barrel loosing accuracy ? My kid has one that new out of the box shot a cloverleaf 3 shot group with iron sites at 40 yards. It has killed a bunch of deer over the last 10 years. Last year I mmmmmmissed with it then, killed a doe but...
It will definitely depend on your riser material and calling BW is probably a good idea. Phenolic is probably the best for that but actionwood is pretty tough too. Are you having tuning issues ? Maybe experimenting with some shafts, point weight and fletching will get you through that. Are you...
Your draw length should not change based on limbs and riser, your string angle will though. You will probably draw about 28" it won't be the same as a compound, with a 17 inch riser I would recommend a set of 40-45 pound longs, that should give you a 62" bow. ILF risers you can crank down and...
Hands down best coffee comes from a blue ceramic coffee pot, add coffee and water and bring to a boil, boil for 5 minutes then pour cold water down the spout to settle the grounds and pour... try it !
I live in Maryland and watched and listened to a buck chasing does for 1/2 and hour last night. Anytime from Halloween on is a great time to be in a tree. Pre-rut is just as good if not better than rut in my opinion, lock down during the rut isn't fun and when the does aren't ready there's a lot...
Please make sure you test your kids eye dominance, if they are right handed and right eye dominant or left handed and left eye dominant you are good to go. If they are cross dominant it can cause some issues. I have some experience with this. It's easy to test
Are you a member of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers ? The Capital region encompasses DC, Virginia and Maryland. If you want to talk sometime shoot me a text and we can set it up 443 532 8947
@Antarctica same goes for you... I'm no expert but I have been there, done that from Maryland
First off, good job involving the whole family. Archery is great fun, as you know. One question is did you verify her eye dominance ? I ask because that is the first thing I do with a new shooter. If she is right handed and left eye dominant, like my wife, it can be an issue. If you don't know...
A couple of the nice features about ILF is how quickly you can change out limbs, a spare set in camp means you keep hunting if you have a failure if a limb gets damaged from a fall etc. You can also have about a 4-5 pound adjustment in draw weight by tightening them down all the way or loosening...

If you are going next year that's the end of October into November so be prepared for that. I have only hunted in 14 and 15 and that was archery. I know they got a lot of snow after I left in 2018, we were above 9500 a lot of the time. Good luck !
I live in Calvert, did my first trip in 2018 to Colorado and hunted Idaho this year. I carry 8X32's don't do much glassing except to determine if that's a log or an elk :) Of course I am bowhunting, you going during bow or rifle ?
Another thing you can do, especially if your platform is metal, is put a thick rubber seat pad under your feet to keep the boots from conducting the cold from the metal platform.
