Yes I’m ok spending the small amounts(>$1000/hunt) I do to hunt DIY rather than pay down my mortgage because one does need to live life, however spending upwards of $20k on hunts that you don’t have the cash for doesn’t make fiscal sense to me in the least.

There is a difference between diy hunts and guided adventure hunts. I have a mortgage, one that I plan to get rid of as quick as possible. In the meantime I will continue to hunt as much as I possibly can but I won’t be paying 10’s of thousands for any hunts anytime soon, to do so would be...
The “other guy” also said that he will pay off that loan in 2-3 years, so why doesn’t he just save the money for 2-3 years and not pay interest and loan costs[emoji2373] the reality is these guys don’t have the money to do the hunts they want to do and if taking a loan at 7+% interest is the...
You know what else would be an amazing gift to his family, an inheritance free and clear with no liabilities left behind. There are ways to spend memorable time with family without going into debt[emoji2373]

His is actually more expensive than my sheep application, no junior pricing for applications and he isn’t price locked to pre 2018 prices like I am. It’s awesome that your son got a tag, let’s see some pics of that ram.

My 9 year old recently passed hunter ed, he will turn 10 in October and be able to hunt big game here in Idaho. There are a few sheep hunts that open after his birthday that he would be eligible for. He has been in the woods hiking/backpacking/hunting with me from the time he could walk. All he...
Do you think that the 5% who are anti hunters should get to make all the wildlife management decisions[emoji2373] because it isn’t just about hunters not being able to make decisions, that seems to be the only alternative they want. If it were just ordinary everyday non hunting people using...
The issue with using land that has been developed for oil and gas is it isn’t a 1:1 trade, currently 90+% of the landscape is still intact even where they are extracting oil and gas, wildlife is able to use that landscape as they always have with some level of disturbance due to ongoing work...
If I could convince my wife I think South Dakota would be an awesome place to live, I’ve only been a couple times but it seems like a sportsmans paradise. Congrats on the move

I listened to the whole thing, the nature conservancy guy continued to dodge the questions over and over, when he said that solar projects would only be placed on previously disturbed lands and Steve asked him “what counts as disturbed lands, would cattle grazing be disturbed” and the guy says...
I don’t think the solar panels have any chemicals in them, just a lot of circuitry made from rare earth minerals[emoji2373]

I think people get caught up in auctions and don’t think about what they’re actually paying. I saw an online auction recently where a vortex Diamondback 3-9x40 riflescope sold for $210, I could buy the same scope on Amazon for $207 and not pay the auction house a $26 premium on top of paying...
I once tried to grade out a pile of deer units in Idaho based on
1)acres/hunter-since just total hunters doesn’t always tell the story
2)hunter days/buck harvested-I wanted to have the best shot at success in the time I was able to allot
3)4 point%-trophy potential, enough said
One unit...
