That's exactly what I used to think. Then I tested it under timed pressure and came to a very different objective conclusion. Hence why I recommended people actually test it. How someone THINKS something will work may not be how it works out in practice. I'd encourage people to actually test...
This ^^^ is effectively what I was saying. Some may arrive at a different conclusion for themselves than I did but I suspect if people would test it out under timed pressure that many (probably most) would arrive at the same conclusion I did.
To add a data point, my Maven RS 1.2 showed up this week. Got it mounted and yesterday did a little shooting. Zeroing was uneventful. Return to zero (shoot at 100 yards, dial lots of elevation, return to zero stop, shoot, repeat) was uneventful. It tracked well to 400 yards (the farthest I...
So you don't want discussion on a message board. Got it.
Tone cannot be picked up consistently on the internet, so let me put it in a different way. I was simply asking a question about his experience dialing vs holding over under timed pressure (I'm guessing he has very little of said...
How much experience do you have shooting under timed pressure from field positions, dialing and holding over? I'm not talking bench shooting with unlimited time and no pressure. I'm not talking shooting house over a wide open field with all day to shoot at a deer that is casually feeding. I'm...
That dang credit card jumped out and bought a scope...hate it when that happens. Mine will hopefully be here this week and maybe I can get to shooting this weekend.
If one understands the difference between objective information and subjective information, one would also understand why the above quote is completely and totally wrong.
Added a VG to my CTR and so far it is an improvement over the stock CTR stock. I have a Rokstock on order for this rifle so once it comes in the VG will go to a different Tikka.
Not even remotely true. Plenty of scopes fail bad enough to cause a miss or an awful shot inside those ranges. I speak from experience. It is that experience that led me to some of the information that @Formidilosus and others have posted. I've had multiple Zeiss, Leupold, and Swarovski...
@bluumoon do you have a torque wrench? I'd be interested to see you repeat the test with it torqued to spec. You clearly had a shift. Now, make sure the actuon is torqued, the rings are torqued, AND the scope is torqued to spec. Do you have a proof scope? That would help isolate the issue...
