Be very careful cleaning any window made out of Lexan- it scratches very easily. As for packs Would be hesitant to use Lexan in case of some crazy fall. Unlikely but it could break and stab you...
So I am leaning towards the Lite Outdoors or the Kifaru cylinder. Would purchase whichever one in 18" size for the increased burn time. The Kifaru is lighter but the Lite Outdoors looks to be a little easier to put together and break down...
Thoughts?
Just went through this issue and settled on the BTX/65 objective and 10x42 EL Range for my glass. You really need to consider your glass as a system- IMO.
Loved the 15x56 SLC's on a tripod (I mean they really turned me into a glassing nut) but needed just a little more power to be able to...
Still Available if anyone is interested- Happy to send pictures and serial numbers. Just PM your cell number or email... These are in brand new condition...
I strongly agree with the tripod suggestion!
I also agree with getting something both of you can use and switch back and forth. The biggest thing is get something comfortable so she enjoys it.
I would give my son my Swaro's and use clapped out 30 year old Nikon's if it made it a better...
Both are really excellent. I can't see any better with the EL's. The only reason I can see anyone buying EL's is for the Range model- which is why I bought mine.
If you aren't buying the Range save the money and get the SLC's. You will be blown away by how good they are.
From my uneducated perspective the TI Goat stoves look pretty good- easy to put together and a flat top to cook on. The Lite Outdoors looks great too- easy to pack, long but no flat area to cook...
What I have is a very lightly used set of Swaro 8x30 CL's for sale. I bought these for use when I was running the 15x56 SLC's. The plan was to use these around my neck and the big ones on the tripod. Well I have since gone to a new system and no longer need the 8x30's. These are a really nice...
Good info-
Having never had a stove my biggest issue/desire is wanting something that will burn for at least an hour or so with out feeding it. If I have to pay a price from a weight/packability standpoint I am willing too. Also, I would like to be able to leave the JetBoil or MSR at home. Do...
Sad but true... No doubt a cheaper route... Of course I use my son as an excuse whenever I purchase something expensive- "Well someday this will be CJ's and so the price is not really that high when prorated over two lifetimes..." LOL.
Thanks JD- It may still be in the safe so hang onto my...
