I think you just need to find a reputable taxidermist,,, not some dude that changes locations.
I go to Rapalee taxidermy in Virginia, this is a family run business open for 50 years. When you see that guys drop off African stuff, you know it’s a good sign.

I made a small batch by throwing a few pounds of sifted dirt into a disposable baking pan, getting it warm/hot in the oven , and then mixing in melted wax by hand. Works fantastic.
A: what is your total budget per person for sleeping bag/pad.
B: keep in mind, you can get something that is cheap/warm/lightweight,,, but it can only be two of those, likely leaving you with something warm but heavy.
There’s something to be said for a g-shock I’ve had for literally 13 years, solar, never done anything but change the band a few times.. you really can’t destroy these things.

I get claustrophobic sleeping in a puffy jacket and pants inside a sleeping bag,, so I’ll take the weight penalty.

The word bivy in Zenbivy is just a little misleading.
It’s a rock solid sleeping bag/quilt system, but no, this is not a bivy.
You’d need a shelter of some sort.
Unless you have a ton of experience with a tarp in inclement weather, I’d just get a tent.
