A truly waterproof pack that doesn't require a rain cover.
Waist high breathable waders with real hiking boots sewn in, which Cabelas had for a while then discontinued. I loved mine!
Go!
My wife, daughter, and I did a 35 mile one way trip summer 2018. It was a freaking blast! We used Ely Outfitters and had no problems.
Everyone that knew me (and my love for fishing) played down the fishing...wrong time of year...blah blah blah. We took rods anyway and crushed the pike...
My hunt partner and I got results in 25 hours through Spectracell in Houston, TX.
Currently in our last Alaska hotel drinking coffee. Flying out for moose and black bear this morning, weather permitting.
I am coming from the lower 48 and I too am concerned. Just found out that they won't accept antigen tests. It has to be molecular which is much harder.
Thanks for posting. I have been looking for this info and hadn't found it. Had planned on getting the antigen test. Now I am screwed. We arrive on Tuesday night so there is no way to get a sample collected and processed within 72 hours because no shipping companies run on Sunday.
Perfectly normal to think it.
Absolutely foolish to say it.
Wait until the kid is on the ground and healthy. Then go turkey hunting. Her stress level will decrease significantly once you are back home from the hospital and fall into a routine.
Our daughter was born in July. I have less...
My experience with 40 Mile is that you can't get in with them unless you take someone that has been before. We did everything possible, months in advance, to get favorable treatment and secure a spot...and we did not get a spot. Strongly recommend you have a backup plan.
Drop hunt for two. It's my buddy's turn to shoot so he'll have the moose tag. I'm along to pack and provide bear defense. Will have a black bear tag in my pocket for after we get the moose down. We're going in high, early. T - 60 days. Can't wait.
I have both. Has anyone tested battery consumption lately? The apps get updated all the time, so I didn't bother doing a search for past history.
Was hoping someone on here knew something about the inner workings of the platforms and could comment that one system would always be better than...
Also, if you can put your camp where you have some elevation it will help. In our case, we were dropped in a swamp...but there was one lone spruce tree. We camped under that tree and climbed it to glass. Both those bulls were first spotted from our glassing tree.
This was 2015, our first Alaska hunt. Drop camp. Great adventure.
Footwear: all you need is good waders and short rubber boots for camp shoes. It may be too wet to have dry feet in Crocs. Hiking boots will be worthless and wasted weight.
Take the outfitter crew's advice on calling. We...
I went to Academy Sports in person and found a sports bag like they use for softball teams. It's not oversized and I can fit my frame pack plus most of my crap in it. Then I have the rifle case as you mentioned. For a drop hunt, I still need one tote checked that has our camp gear.
I hate asking/paying for help but I’ve gotten more rational with age and experience...of not asking for help and taking twice as long to do something at twice the cost...because I screwed it up the first time.
I hired a handyman to help me mount my euro moose. Lag bolt into the stud, a couple...
Please share pics of what you have done with them. I hope to shoot my first this fall and am unsure of what I will do. Ideally I'd make a bed cover (for hunting camp) out of the hide, euro mount the skull, and pull the claws for necklaces for my wife and daughter. Not sure if 2 and 3 will...
The purpose of the fence is to keep other deer from getting in. These large ranches keep their deer number below carrying capacity. That wouldn’t be possible without a fence.
How many of you that poo poo high fence hunts have actually spent time on a large high fenced ranch? There is practically no advantage to the hunter if the acreage is sizeable and the native brush isn't mowed down. I have been a guest on a 4,400 acre high fenced ranch since 1984. The owning...
I would not expect dry ground to be in great supply. A friend and I hunted with them in 2015, killed two bulls. Absolute adventure of a lifetime. Through that experience, I have talked to lots of other hunters that went with them and the general consensus is that you may be dropped in a swamp...
