    Delorme inReach activation questions

Personally, I would activate in time to have a chance to familiarize yourself with it. I would also download the earthmate app to my phone. I thought it was a great addition to the Delorme. I think they go month by month, so your stuck with a two month minimum anyway.

    Dehydrating Leftovers

I prefer casseroles, stews, etc over adding individual ingredients to make a meal. Casserole will dehydrate well. I try to make sure the meat in the casserole is in fairly small pieces when I dehydrate. I'd say dehydrate a few and test it out.

    A 160 lbs Bow Pull

Looks like your correct. A quick google search came up with this. Interesting stuff The power of these medieval War bows was breathtaking. Detailed analysis of the War bows recovered from the Tudor warship Mary Rose, which sank in battle in 1545 with an almost complete inventory including...

    Let the Patagonia boycotts begin

Federally owned land does not eliminate recourse extraction. It is still grazed, logged, mined etc. In Oregon, it is quite often a special interest group that tries to block logging or other uses of the land, it is not the Federal government. This is the case with the Elliot State Forest...

    Let the Patagonia boycotts begin

This article paints a pretty rosy picture. There are a whole lot of ifs and conditions to make it a positive report. Have you read the BHA Sportsman Report:"Our Public Lands Are Not For Sale"? I believe history shows the States are most likely to sell these public lands. The States of...

    Let the Patagonia boycotts begin

I have nothing constructive to add. Some of this logic bullshit is code word for only my opinion matters. Same story different topic. There is nothing wrong with having differing views on any subject. And to suggest that you were raised wrong because you don't agree with ME is pretty insulting.

    Newbie question on electronics

I don't have the SE version but I've just started using my iphone paired with the In-reach. Works pretty well I think. Also, a lot easier to enter a message through your phone than the In-reach. I just got back from a scouting trip and everything worked well. Way too much snow up high and...

    How old is too old?

I'll turn 61 at the end of archery season. I started back country hunting in 2008. I think staying in shape is the key, and a year around commitment. Most of the time I am solo, so hauling an elk out of the back country is brutal. I plan on doing this as long as I can. My only regret is...

    Insanity Workout?

I have been doing the same thing also. It got to where my knees started aching if I didn't take it easy on the jumps. I also found that I still needed to hit the weights to maintain strength.

    Tips for Packing your Pack

I've had this happen when I cross threaded the cap on my MSR bladder. Everything below was soaked. Now I usually put my sleeping bag in a garbage compactor bag, just in case! I've never had the compression of my backpack force water out of my water bladder though.
