Let us know after a night or two how you like that one....its the other one I have heard was good/ had lots of good reviews. IM a side sleeper, and I cant tell how you how bad I slept on my last few trips....if I was lucky I would get an hour of sleep and then wake up SO damn sore and have to...
I don't carry mine during the rifle hunts if I'm the one with the gun. It stays in the truck, and if I have an animal to pack out, after the first load hits the truck, I can switch out the rifle for the 10mm. Mine is the glock 29. I also carry the Glock 29 during scout trips and turkey hunts. My...
ive been struggling with this decision/purchase as well. I haven't slept on it yet, but the one I am considering is the Exped UL Winter in Long/Wide...Its 2 pounds basically, but for cold conditions...i want it to be warm and comfortable. I had extremely sore hips from my last trip...and wasnt...
I agree with JPD and the others who suspect meat spoilage and bone souring. I had this happen on a white tail buck my son shot. We couldn't locate the deer after shooting him in the morning. Then temps climbed. we looked all morning and found him late in the afternoon, BUT the temps were way up...
I did a search already to see what I could find, but always enjoy seeing how people get creative to make cabin furniture and unique euro/trophy mounting ideas. So I thought I would query yall to post up and show off what ya have done. Not talking antler size or biggest of the big, just looking...
I put a lot of thought and research in before buying. I found lots of butchers that would recommend the Vic knives with the Fibrox handles. The only knife I wanted and couldn't find on amazon was the 5" semi stiff. I went with a 5" flexible and 6" semi stiff to compare. Its not in the list...
ive been averaging 2 deer a year, sometimes 3. For those just getting started....there are many videos on youtube that will help. My two favorites are Scott Rae and the Bearded Butchers. Scott Rae is my fav simply because he is overseas and does butchering videos on smaller deer. He's a little...
After numerous years of dealing with less than stellar knives around the house for meat processing, I finally decided to say the hell with it. I didn't draw any tags this year, so I might as well upgrade my knife game. Timing was good too because the wife was complaining about our "crappy steak...
Wanted, Kestrel Knife set , preferably in the orange anodized. The skeleton kit is what im looking for that would include the skinning blade, the hunters knife, and the mountain caper. PM me if you have in interest in selling as a kit, or any of these individual knives...thanks!
if long range isn't in the cards...I know these weren't on your list, but maybe a 7mm-08 or even 270 with the managed recoil ammo if they still make it. The Remington Managed recoil loads kicked less than normal 270 ammo....and worked well for my wife. she shoots regular 270 ammo now though...
I also like the Badlands superday pack for times when meat carry isn't an issue. Works great for whitetail hunts because it has lots of pockets. Room for a bladder. Works good for carrying a spotter and tripod in the main compartment for scouting when on horseback too. Just a few things Ive used...
I have a couple zebralights and I also have the black diamond storm. I carry both. When I need stupid bright, I pull out the zebralight with the 18650 rechargeable battery. I use the storm for everything else. I like it because you can run it dim at camp and it has the button for instant bright...
