I'm glad I got 4 boxes while they were available. They shoot ok in my 6mm arc bolt gun with 29g CFE223. I'll use them to fireform brass and kill varmints.
I have the 15-45x60 SX-4 and a 13-39x50 Vortex Razor. Above 30x the Leupold was rough on my eyes. I don't think the Razor and the SX-4 are in the same league.
How much are you willing to spend? How many points do you have? When do you want the hunt to take place? How many in your hunting party? How physical of a hunt do you want? Private land or public outfitted.
I built a 6mm arc on a Howa mini action for my 12 year old daughter. I stated with a carbon barreled action from brownells and picked up a stock from stockys. Right now it weighs 5.85 lbs with the scope on it.
Most of the landowner tags I'm familiar with in Utah start at $9k. I've seen some private ranch hunts for deer in Montana go in your price range. You will have to buy 2 preference point through the outiffer, then you should be guaranteed a a tag in the draw. A quick Google search should get you...
I grabbed a 6mm Arc carbon barreled action a few weeks ago. I put it in a Stocky's stock and now I'm ready to get it sighted in. This thread cost me a good chunk of money.
I picked up a box of Federal 205M primers today at the Sportsmans in Ogden, UT. There were at least 5 boxes left when I walked out the store. I've been looking for these for a while and thought I'd pass it along.
I just put this 6mm ARC together this week. I grabbed the barreled action from Brownells and the stock if from Stocky's. I dropped a Burris Timberline scope with steel bases/rings. It weighs 5.85 lbs right now but I should be able to cut the weight a little with aluminum bases/rings.
I just picked up a 6mm arc barreled action from Brownells. It'll be my daughter's first rifle. I know it's not as fast as a 243 but it will be the perfect size for a 12 year old.
I have two Green Mountain smokers and use them at least once a week in the winter and several times a week in the summer. I have the pizza oven attachments and make pizza several times a month.
For anybody who thinks that a point restriction is a good idea, take a long hard look at the Bookcliffs deer herd. I've been fortunate enough to have hunted there over the past several years with family and we see about 30% of the herd with less than four points on one side. There is also a...
I'm in favor of a draw. 30k+ people will apply for the tags. Tac on $20 per application and the department makes another $600k. Have the draw close on 1 Dec and tags must be purchase by 31 Dec.
Any unpurchased tags will be run through another draw (maybe 10k applicants) that closes on 31 Jan...
