I have a Sabatti in 45-70. It's one of the funnest rifles I own. I do wish that i would have gotten a a 9.3x74r as that caliber is a lot more versatile.
For an entry level, if you get a 9.3x74r, they are usually several thousand less than a rifle in a Nitro Express caliber.
I would also look...

After logfing in, you can look under your application history to see if you drew a tag this year. Good luck everyone!
I've heard the spy museum is a must visit. Go out to to the Naval Academy if you have time. It's gree to get into. There is a lot of good restaurants right outside the academy.
G&M crabcakes 10 min north of BWI is my favorite restaurant in the area.
I put a 6mm ARC Howa Mini together for my 12 yo daughter. It's a Stocky's stock so the length of pull is a little lo ger than you want but it has zero recoil. She will shoot a box of ammo through it every time we go to the range.
If you stumble across a Ruger 275 Rigby, buy it immediately. Only a couple hundred were made and they have quickly become collectors items. I believe Zastava still makes a 7x57 also. The wood stock is a mess but a few hours with a file and you'll have a great rifle.
I pieced this 6mm Arc together. It took over a year to finally get everything bought but I'm excited to finally have it finished. The aftermarket floorplate/trigger guard is an absolute must.
That's completely up to you, where you live, and what the rules are. You could write a book about all the intricacies of applying for hunts. Start listening to Randy Newburg's podcast on applying in every state and formulate a plan that works for you and your budget.
I would start by applying for the once-in-a-lifetime hunts in every western state you can afford. The odds are extremely low but you will not draw 100% of the tags you don't apply for.
Here's a little cartridge comparison. 470 NItro, 375 H&H (225 grain bullet), and a 5.56. The 375 is the legal minimum for buffalo in a lot of countries.

Using a double rifle is a lot quicker on a follow up shot but slower when you need to fire 3 rounds. If you need to shoot 4 rounds the double is faster than a bolt rifle. With a double, you don't have to worry about a short stroke.
The PH messed up by not being fully ready for his 3rd and 4th...
I would like it if the folks who continuously break the law, lose their hunting privileges for enough time that they also lose preference/bonus points. Or as citizens, we ask the game commission to remove preference/bonus points for repeat offenders.
I worked with several Vets who used their GI bill to pay for their flight school through a local university. All of them joined a local club to build hours. One of them joined the civil air patrol to get his cost per hour down but he had to pay out of pocket for his instructor rating, $25k...
Wife and I went on a Princess cruise to Alaska for our honeymoon nearly 20 years ago. We had a great time and I would definitely do it again. Princess caters to older people so the boat was very quiet. We went on a 7 round trip from Seattle.
